Virginia Highland’s iconic Winterfest is back for its fourth year, bringing holiday cheer to one of Atlanta’s favorite neighborhoods. On Friday, Dec. 13, and Saturday, Dec. 14, the historic district will transform into a wonderland of holiday spirit.

Winterfest kicks off on Friday evening with the Tour of Lights Block Party on Arlington Place, presented by Trees for Tuition. This event offers a twinkling start to the weekend, featuring real-life reindeer, carnival games, a live band, and festive food and drinks. It’s the perfect way to embrace the holiday spirit while exploring the neighborhood’s brightest houses.

Saturday begins with the Jingle Jog, a 2.2-mile fun-run down Lanier Boulevard. Starting at 9 a.m. on University Drive and looping back at Los Angeles Avenue, this lively race brings runners together in festive costumes adorned with jingle bells and includes a free drink voucher with registration. Children under 12 can join the run for free, making it a family-friendly way to kick off the day. Plus, runners can show their race bibs at local restaurants Doc Chey’s and Osteria 832 for a discount on their post race meal!

Immediately following the jog, the Holiday Parade presented by Audi Atlanta takes over Lanier Boulevard. With decked-out floats, holiday characters, live music, and candy for the crowd, it’s a crowd-pleaser for attendees of all ages.

The Winterfest Gift Market is the main event of the day, open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and offers an array of holiday finds. Whether you are looking for art, jewelry, accessories, or home goods, this market has it all. With more than 70 vendors, it’s the perfect place to shop for handcrafted treasures while supporting local artists.

For families, the Kids Corner, presented by Druid Hills Presbyterian Church, is packed with fun! Featuring ticketed attractions like bounce houses and face painting, as well as free crafts and performances, it’s designed to keep the little ones entertained throughout the day.
The day concludes with an After Party at The Family Dog at 7:30 p.m, featuring live music by local favorites Crushed Velvet, the perfect way to wrap up the festivities.
Make Winterfest a highlight of your holiday season! As one Virginia Highland resident shares, “We love this event! What a great way to celebrate the holiday season, bring the community together, and highlight some talent in the neighborhood.”
