1. Turkey tips

VIA SIDE DISH, A WEEKLY NEWSLETTER| SUBSCRIBE HERE

☎️ For many households, roast turkey is the main event for Thanksgiving dinner. But getting the bird from brined and basted to roasted and ready can be challenging, even for the most seasoned home cook. Enter the Butterball Talk Line. You can call or text one of Butterball’s turkey experts who will walk you through everything from thawing your turkey and options for brining or marinating, to roasting times per weight and carving techniques.

🦃 Here’s an interesting turkey fact. While founding father Ben Franklin may have defended the honor of the turkey in a letter to his daughter, calling it a “much more respectable bird” than the bald eagle and a “true original Native of America,” he did not push for the turkey to become the national bird displayed on the Great Seal. It’s just a myth — or rather, a misinterpretation of Franklin’s words.
