Southampton on the verge of sealing £10m deal to sign Joe Aribo, Super Eagles midfielder

Southampton are closing in on a negotiation worth about £10m for Super Eagles midfielder Joe Aribo after he would not sign another deak with Scotish side Rangers.

On Tuesday July 5, Sportsmail reported that Southampton were wanting to battle off rivalry from the likes of Premier League new boys Nottingham Forest and Fulham to land the 25-year-old.

Talks have accelerated with the two clubs now on the verge of an agreement on a deal in the region of £10m, including add-ons.

Aribo, who moved to Ibrox from Charlton in 2019, has a £10m discharge clause in his Rangers contract.

That deal has only one year left to run however the Scottish side were expecting to get a package that was equivalent to his clause value.

Aribo partook in a magnificent season in which he was one of Rangers’ most utilized player, making 57 appearances, scoring nine times including in the Europa League final against Eintracht Frankfurt.
