President Donald J. Trump carried a plurality of the popular vote and won the electoral college decisively (312 to 226). This has given his second presidency a unique feeling of authority – indeed a mandate from the American people.

President Abraham Lincoln’s rule that with popular sentiment anything is possible and without popular sentiment nothing is possible is being borne out right in front of us.

According to Rasmussen Reports, 55 percent of American voters believed the election conferred a clear mandate for President Trump’s policies. Only 32 percent thought he did not have a mandate (13 percent were not sure).

This is almost 2:1 support for a mandate for the Trump agenda among those who have made up their minds.

NEWT GINGRICH: BIDEN MAY BE PRESIDENT BUT TRUMP IS ALREADY LEADER OF THE FREE WORLD

The fact is: President Trump has a broad and creative program for reducing the size of government, cutting taxes, increasing take home pay, and solving a number of the nation’s problems.

The American people agree that the torch has been passed from a cognitively declining, increasingly passive liberal Democrat to President-elect Trump. President Trump is filling the vacuum with remarkable speed.

As I wrote recently, we are beginning to see the first effects of public opinion support for the Trump agenda and the momentum of international acceptance of President Trump as the de facto president. Some Democrats are trying to figure out how to respond to the changing times and politics of our time.

The report this week that Sen. John Fetterman signed up for Truth Social, and sent out his first truth was an early sign that some Democrats are open to working with the Trump administration. The Pennsylvania Democrat even attacked the legal cases against President Trump as political and called for President Joe Biden to pardon the new president-elect.

FETTERMAN SLAMS LEGAL CASES AGAINST TRUMP, HUNTER BIDEN IN FIRST TRUTH SOCIAL POST: ‘CASES WERE BOTH BULLS—‘

It is possible that Sen. Fetterman is going to fill the void left by retiring Sen. Joe Manchin as an independent thinker willing to work with both parties.

Adding Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to President Trump’s change-oriented team has added a level of prestige and energy that is transformative. Having a chance to meet with the world’s richest man and swapping ideas with two extraordinary entrepreneurs is a real break from the normally dull pattern of meetings members attend.

It was encouraging when CNN reported on Dec. 4:

“Democratic Rep. Jared Moskowitz joined a Republican-led congressional caucus supporting President-elect Donald Trump’s newly formed Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, co-led by Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy. Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna has said he will work with Musk on certain issues, and Vermont independent Sen. Bernie Sanders recently posted on X that ‘Elon Musk is right.’”

Congressman Khanna represents a large part of the high-tech innovative sector in Northern California. He has a real sense of how much new technology and entrepreneurship can modernize government and reduce its cost. He wrote an entire article headlined “Democrats can work with DOGE” for MSNBC pointing out how the Pentagon could be made less expensive and more effective.

These early indicators of potential collaboration can be grown into a genuine bipartisan legislative majority for President Trump’s agenda.

Most of the issues on which President Trump campaigned on are 60 percent to 80 percent approval issues. With the bully pulpit of the White House and the grassroots activists who were a major key to the president winning on Nov. 5, it may be positive to undertake a series of legislative initiatives which attract Democratic votes.

When I was in Congress, I participated in two amazing cycles of bipartisan victories for popular conservatives issues.

In 1981, as a relatively new member, I worked on President Ronald Reagan’s three-year tax cut program. By appealing to the American people and explaining how the bill would make their lives better, enough grassroots pressure developed to get one-third of House Democrats to vote with us.

In 1996, as Speaker of the House, we passed the welfare reform bill which was the largest conservative social reform in my lifetime. By emphasizing a work requirement and refocusing welfare offices to be employment assistance agencies, we led to a greater increase in children leaving poverty than at any other time in American history. Even though the hard left hated the work requirements, the grassroots support for welfare reform (about 90 percent in one poll, including 88 percent of those on welfare) led the Democrats to split in half. We carried 101 Democrats while losing 101 Democrats.

A reconciliation bill that cuts taxes and reforms regulations to create jobs – with three or four months of grassroots communication, education and organization – could lead to a substantial number of Democrats deciding they had to support the bill or face certain defeat.

The potential is here for a positive bipartisanship that reforms the establishment and creates a much more dynamic, safer, and more prosperous America.

Michael Moore defends anger at the health care industry: More blood on their hands than ‘9/11 terrorists’

0

Left-wing filmmaker Michael Moore declared that the anger shown towards the health care industry is justified and that he wanted to fuel that anger in a new post.

Writing on his Substack page Friday, Moore noted he doesn’t condone murder, but insisted that the rage that people feel towards the industry should be amplified in the wake of the assassination of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

“The anger is 1000% justified. It is long overdue for the media to cover it. It is not new. It has been boiling. And I’m not going to tamp it down or ask people to shut up. I want to pour gasoline on that anger,” he said. He also included a free upload to YouTube of his 2007 documentary “Sicko,” which takes aim at the U.S. pharmaceutical and health insurance industries.

“These insurance corporations and their executives have more blood on their hands than a thousand 9/11 terrorists,” he added. “And that’s why they are scrubbing their executives’ profiles from their websites and putting up fences around their headquarters.”

Moore’s words come almost a week after Maryland resident and Ivy League graduate Luigi Mangione was arrested and charged with Thompson’s murder outside a Manhattan hotel.

The shooting prompted a wave of condemnation and horror at the killing, but also celebration among some who chose sympathy with Americans they see as victimized by the country’s health care system.

Moore’s article indicated he was in the latter camp.

“In his manifesto, he references how I’ve ‘illuminated the corruption and greed,’ implying folks should go to my work to understand the complexity — and the power-hungry abuse — within our current system,” Moore wrote, adding that since being mentioned in the suspect’s manifesto, he’s been constantly asked if he condemns Thompson’s killing.

“Hmmm. Do I condemn murder? That’s an odd question,” he wrote. “In Fahrenheit 9/11, I condemned the murder of hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqi people and the senseless murder of our own American soldiers at the hands of our American government.”

He added, “In my 35 years as a filmmaker, have I said or done anything that has implied I condone murder?”

However, Moore chose to focus his condemnation on health care companies, stating, “Here’s a sad statistic for you: In the United States, we have a whopping 1.4 million people employed with the job of DENYING HEALTH CARE, vs only 1 million doctors in the entire country!”

Moore wrote he supports the anger that people have shown towards healthcare companies since Thompson’s death.

“Yes, I condemn murder, and that’s why I condemn America’s broken, vile, rapacious, bloodthirsty, unethical, immoral health care industry and I condemn every one of the CEOs who are in charge of it,” he declared.

McConnell warns RFK Jr. to steer clear of the polio vaccine

0

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell gave a stern warning to Robert F. Kennedy Jr. after a report highlighted how one of Kennedy’s associates had sought to rescind approval for a polio vaccine.

McConnell, a polio survivor, said in a statement that “efforts to undermine public confidence in proven cures are not just uninformed – they’re dangerous.”

“Anyone seeking the Senate’s consent to serve in the incoming Administration would do well to steer clear of even the appearance of association with such efforts,” he added, without naming Kennedy, a vaccine skeptic who is President-elect Trump’s choice to lead the Department of Health and Human Services.

McConnell’s statement follows a New York Times report on Friday that highlighted how Kennedy’s personal attorney, Aaron Siri, had represented clients in cases that sought to rescind approval for a version of the polio vaccine and others.

“Like millions of families before them, my parents knew the pain and fear of watching their child struggle with the life-altering diagnosis of polio. From the age of two, normal life without paralysis was only possible for me because of the miraculous combination of modern medicine and a mother’s love. But for millions who came after me, the real miracle was the saving power of the polio vaccine,” McConnell said.

“For decades, I have been proud to work with devoted advocates – from Rotary International to the Gates Foundation – and use my platform in public life to champion the pursuit of cures for further generations. I have never flinched from confronting specious disinformation that threatens the advance of lifesaving medical progress, and I will not today.

The GOP leader was joined by his Democratic counterpart, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, who demanded that RFK Jr. make his position on the polio vaccine clear.

“This would undoubtedly make America sick again,” Schumer said, sharing the Times report on X. “It’s outrageous and dangerous for people in the Trump Transition to try and get rid of the polio vaccine that has virtually eradicated polio in America and saved millions of lives. RFK Jr. must state his position on this.”

“We have wrapped filming Christy Martin’s story and it has been one of the most emotional, transformative experiences of my life. Christy’s journey is so deeply inspiring, and having her by my side during this process was nothing short of surreal,” she wrote in the caption.

She continued, “There were moments on set where I’d glance over at her standing by the monitors, cheering us on, and I’d just become so emotional. Knowing what she’s endured, what she’s pushed through to be there in that moment—it made me want to cry.”

Throughout the rest of the caption, Sweeney thanked the cast and crew of the movie, later adding she is excited for audiences to “witness a story that’s as powerful as the woman who lived it.”

In a new interview with Glamour magazine, the “Euphoria” star told the outlet that photographers showed up at her new Florida home while she was there with her family and yelled at them to force her to come out in a bikini for a photo.

“They said, ‘If you tell her to just come outside in a bikini, I’ll take pictures and then I’ll leave you alone,’” she said.

To make it even worse, Sweeney said people on social media suggested she called the paparazzi.

“Why would I call the paparazzi to take pictures of me at my own house when my baby cousins and family are there and I’m in my backyard? Why would I ever want that?” she told the magazine.

She added that she has photos of paparazzi in “kayaks hiding in bushes in the ocean. They got there at 8 a.m. and wouldn’t leave until 4 p.m. I should be able to be in my home and feel comfortable and safe.”

“When those photos go out, then my actual safety is at risk,” she said of paparazzi photos of her at home. “Everyone knows where I am. Now there’s boats that go by, and I literally hear them say, ‘This is Sydney Sweeney’s house.’ It becomes a star tour in my front yard.”

Suspect in UnitedHealthcare CEO killing retains high-powered NY attorney

0

Luigi Mangione, the suspect in the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, has retained a high-powered New York attorney and former CNN legal analyst to represent him, Fox News Digital has learned.

Karen Friedman Agnifilo will represent Mangione as he faces a second-degree murder charge in New York for the Dec. 4 shooting in Manhattan, a spokesperson for Friedman Agnifilo has confirmed.

Friedman Agnifilo previously worked as the chief assistant district attorney in the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office for seven years and has experience in New York City’s criminal justice system. She has worked in private practice for the past three years with Agnifilo Intrater LLP.

HOW UNITEDHEALTHCARE CEO GUNMAN’S WEAPON COULD WORK AGAINST HIM AND TO POLICE’S ADVANTAGE

“Karen Friedman Agnifilo of Agnifilo Intrater LLP has been officially retained to represent Luigi Mangione in New York,” the spokesperson said in a statement.

“Ms. Friedman Agnifilo is a longtime veteran of the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office and served as the second-in-command for seven years under DA Cyrus Vance, in addition to serving for four years as the Chief of the Office’s Trial Division.”

Friedman Agnifilo has three decades of experience in criminal justice, litigation and trials, according to Agnifilo Intrater.

Her practice focuses on criminal defense in state and federal courts and prosecuting serious violent crimes, including complex homicide cases.

She also represents plaintiffs in civil and employment matters and individuals in Title IX matters, a statute that protects persons from sex-based discrimination. She also specializes in internal investigations relating to misconduct, discrimination and sexual assault.

The news of Friedman Agnifilo representing Mangione comes as investigators have uncovered new evidence in recent days, including law enforcement determining that the 3D-printed gun Mangione had in his possession when he was arrested matches the three shell casings found at the crime scene in Midtown Manhattan. His fingerprints also matched the fingerprints found on items near the scene of the shooting.

Mangione remains in custody in Pennsylvania, where he was apprehended on gun-related charges, as he fights extradition to New York. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg said there were indications Mangione may waive his extradition next week.

A Pennsylvania judge denied Mangione bail on Tuesday, leaving him behind bars at the Huntingdon State Correctional Institution.

The suspect is also facing charges in Pennsylvania of carrying a gun without a license, forgery, falsely identifying himself to the authorities and possessing “instruments of crime.” New York prosecutors additionally hit him with three counts of illegal weapons possession and forgery, on top of the murder charge.

Blair County District Attorney Peter Weeks in Pennsylvania said his office is prepared “to do what’s necessary” to move Mangione to New York.

Mangione’s attorney in Pennsylvania, Thomas Dickey, has denied that his client is responsible for the killing in New York and believes he will plead not guilty in the Big Apple to the murder charge and other charges. Mangione also plans to plead not guilty to charges in Pennsylvania related to possession of a gun and fake ID authorities say was found on him when they arrested him, according to Dickey.

The suspect appeared to be driven by frustration with the health insurance industry and alleged “corporate greed,” police have said, although he was not an insured member of UnitedHealthcare.

Woman accusing Jay-Z and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs of sexual assault acknowledges inconsistencies – Boston News, Weather, Sports

0

A woman who accused rappers Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs of sexually assaulting her when she was 13 at an awards show after-party has acknowledged certain inconsistencies in her story, while her lawyer said he will continue to vet her claims.

The unnamed woman described being driven from Rochester, New York, to New York City for the MTV Video Music Awards in 2000 and then Combs’ limo driver offering her a ride to an after-party, NBC News reported on Friday. She claimed she spoke with musicians Benji Madden and his brother at the party, and her father picked her up after the alleged assault.

But a representative of the Maddens confirmed to NBC that they were on tour in the Midwest during the VMAs, while her father said he doesn’t remember the drive home of more than five hours. The woman’s friend who reportedly drove her to the awards has since died, NBC reported.

The woman had first sued Combs, alleging she was raped at an after-party, and then amended the lawsuit Sunday to include a new allegation that Jay-Z, whose legal name is Shawn Carter, also was at the party and participated in the sexual assault.

Jay-Z said in a statement that the article proves Tony Buzbee, a personal injury lawyer in Houston, filed a false complaint against him for money and fame.

“This incident didn’t happen and yet he filed it in court and doubled down in the press,” he said. “True Justice is coming. We fight FROM victory, not FOR victory. This was over before it began. This 1-800 lawyer doesn’t realize it yet, but, soon.”

Buzbee told The Associated in an email that if someone raises a new issue which didn’t previously exist, her legal team’s job is to continue collecting facts and evidence.

Jay-Z’s attorney, Alex Spiro, asked the court to dismiss the case, saying in a statement, “It is stunning that a lawyer would not only file such a serious complaint without proper vetting, but would make things worse by further peddling this false story in the press.”

The woman admitted to making “some mistakes” when recalling that night, but said she stands by her allegations.

The litigation is part of a wave of sexual assault lawsuits levied against Combs as the hip-hop mogul remains in custody in New York awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges.

The unnamed woman said that while she was in the limousine, she was asked to sign a nondisclosure document. Once at the party, the lawsuit said, she took a drink that made her feel “woozy and lightheaded” and went into a bedroom to lie down.

She said Combs and Jay-Z then barged into the room, along with another unnamed celebrity, and raped her. The woman said she eventually escaped the room, fled the house and called for a ride from a nearby gas station.

Jay-Z, a 24-time Grammy award winning rapper, producer and music mogul, anonymously sued Buzbee last month, alleging he was attempting to blackmail the rapper by threatening to make the rape allegation public if he did not agree to a legal settlement. Jay-Z said Buzbee sent a letter to his lawyer appearing to seek a settlement, which had the “opposite effect” on him.

Buzbee previously said the notion that he was trying to blackmail Jay-Z is “stupid and laughable” and his letter simply sought confidential mediation in the litigation.

Buzbee announced at a news conference in October that he represents some 120 people, men and women, with allegations of sexual misconduct against Combs.

His firm, which has set up a toll-free phone line for accusers, began filing a wave of lawsuits against the hip-hop mogul a few weeks later.

Combs was denied bail a third time last month. He has pleaded not guilty to charges he coerced and abused women for years and faces trial in May.

Lawyers for Combs did not immediately respond to emails seeking comment.

Jay-Z and Combs are part of a generation of hip-hop titans who rose to prominence in the 2000s, emerging as wide-ranging entrepreneurs and two of the world’s wealthiest rappers. Earlier this year, Forbes estimated Jay-Z’s net worth to be $2.5 billion.

The artists have collaborated over the years, with Jay-Z featured on Combs’ debut album, “No Way Out,” and Combs appearing on Jay-Z’s sophomore album, “In My Lifetime, Vol. 1.”

While frequently photographed together at events, they also have been business competitors. Diddy launched his Bad Boy Records around the same time Jay-Z launched his Roc-A-Fella record label.

0

OAK BLUFF, Mass. (WHDH) –Police say the expect to charge a driver in connection with a violent crash on Martha’s Vineyard late Thursday night that left three people hospitalized, including a woman who is in critical condition.

Officers responding to a reported crash in the area of Our Market around 11:45 p.m. found a snapped telephone pole and an overturned vehicle in Sunset Lake, according to the Oak Bluffs Police Department.

A 31-year-old woman was found on the shoreline and a 35-year-old man was found in the water. His feet were trapped under the vehicle and he was telling officers that his mother was unconscious and in the back of the vehicle, which was submerged in water.

The 60-year-old woman in the rear of the vehicle was extricated by responding officers and was found to have no pulse. She was airlifted to Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston, where she remains in critical condition.

Officers were later able to determine that the driver and passengers were coming from an establishment in Edgartown and were going to a residence in Tisbury in a 2023 BMW X5 M series SUV when the crash occurred.

A preliminary investigation suggests excessive speed and alcohol were contributing factors.

To win without war, State Department reform is necessary

0

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

When the American government says it seeks improved relations with a country like China, it typically refers to its relationship with the Chinese Communist Party-state and not the nation of China. This is because the U.S. State Department is biased toward relations with governments and not people. And by the very form of our diplomacy, the governments are, in effect, declared to be legitimate representatives of their people.

But some governments do not actually represent the people. They rule without the consent of the governed – or any partial variant of consent embodied in such cultural traditions, like respect for the hierarchical authority of kings or tribal chieftains. So, when our diplomacy, in effect, bestows legitimacy on totalitarian tyrannies – regimes that oppress their people – we harm relations with their subject peoples. We demoralize them. We reinforce the regimes’ efforts to consign them to a psychology of futile resignation and fatalistic acceptance that political change is impossible.

Some presidencies have held public diplomacy, relations with foreign people, to be a major priority. For example, President Reagan bore moral witness to the sufferings of people under communism. He connected with them – so they no longer felt alone with no moral support in their opposition to communist tyranny. He elevated the U.S. Information Agency (USIA) in the hierarchy of foreign policy agencies. He bolstered the Voice of America (VOA), Radio Free Europe and Radio Liberty with an infusion of $2.5 billion ($8.17 billion in today’s dollars). He delivered speeches and interviews to the peoples of the captive nations. He told the truth about oppressive communist tyrannies and showed the captive peoples that communist power was no longer so great that it could get U.S. Presidents to censor themselves. It was that public diplomacy – and the associated political and ideological warfare strategy against communism – that provided much of the explanation of why a million people could demonstrate in Moscow for radical political change.

CHINA ABUSED ITS US TRADE RELATIONSHIP. TRUMP CAN FIX IT

Today, President Trump has a tremendous opportunity to reconnect with the peoples suffering communist tyranny. But whatever efforts he makes will last only so long as he is President, unless he and Secretary of State-designate, Marco Rubio, reform the State Department.

That reform must involve creating a U.S. Public Diplomacy Agency – similar, but not identical to the former U.S. Information Agency (USIA) – within State whose director would be a deputy secretary and a statutory observer on the National Security Council. Other public diplomacy entities, such as Voice of America (VOA) and even U.S Agency for International Development (USAID), should work under its umbrella. This structure will only work long-term if career incentives encourage foreign service officers to become “full-spectrum diplomats” capable of excellence in public diplomacy and its “cousins,” like political warfare, ideological competition and psychological strategy – instruments of non-military conflict that can enable us to “win without war.” Accordingly, the enabling legislation should specify that 50 percent of all ambassadorships and deputy assistant secretaryships occupied by career officers should go to those who have spent most of their careers in public diplomacy.

After making all our government’s global messaging platforms accountable to U.S. foreign policy, the messaging must then change. The contents of VOA broadcasts and the State Department’s Global Engagement Center have suffered from the influence of leftist ideology that fails to hold up the American constitutional order as a truly positive and humane alternative to the narratives of contemporary totalitarian powers, such as Communist China and the global jihadist movement.

(Alexei Druzhinin, Sputnik, Kremlin Pool Photo via AP, File)

CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINION

To that end, the mission of the VOA cannot continue to be simply “good journalism.” It must be “good public diplomacy” that serves our national security. We don’t need another version of a publicly funded media outlet like NPR. Instead, we need to tell America’s story to the world and counter the massive narrative warfare conducted against us by Communist China. We must show, for all the sins of our ancestors, how America’s unprecedented civilizational capacity for self-improvement has made our nation the freest, most innovative, prosperous and generous nation in history and how alignment with the U.S. can generate these gifts for other nations, too.

While conventional wisdom insists that incoming President Donald Trump has a non-interventionist mandate from a war-weary electorate, the truth is that, should we choose to ignore the world’s problems where they are, they will show up on our doorstep and worse than they were before. A comprehensive approach to foreign policy that prioritizes persuading and empowering the people of other nations, rather than placating their corrupt or adversarial governments, has already proven to be effective.
