Kevin Costner told ‘Yellowstone’ cast he was ‘scared as hell’

0

Though he’s long left the show, Kevin Costner’s presence is still very much felt for the “Yellowstone” cast as the show wraps its fifth season.

Denim Richards, whose character Colby was recently killed off on the show, shared his first memory of seeing Costner when the cast got together to do a table read.

“Everyone is getting together and [Kevin Costner] walks in. He’s this massive presence, but so humble,” Richards told The New York Post.

“Everyone is getting ready to get up from the table read and go outside. [Costner] said, ‘I don’t know about you guys, but I’m scared as hell. So why don’t we come together the best we can, and make this happen, and support each other.’”

‘YELLOWSTONE’ STAR LUKE GRIMES SAYS KEVIN COSTNER’S EXIT MADE IT THE ‘EASIEST SEASON WE’VE FILMED’

Richards said after Costner’s speech, “You could feel the stress go out of the room. It was a beautiful thing.”

He continued, “This is an Oscar-winning legend… whether or not he was really scared, who knows. But it gave everyone this extra level of confidence that there’s no hierarchy.”

Costner starred in the first five and half seasons of “Yellowstone” as John Dutton, head of a ranch in Montana, run by his family, Kayce (Luke Grimes), Jamie (Wes Bentley), Beth (Kelly Reilly) and Beth’s husband, Rip (Cole Hauser).

At the beginning of the second half of this season, Costner’s character was killed off. The Oscar-winner had already left the series before the episode aired after scheduling and contract issues occurred, in part with his “Horizon: An American Saga” film series.

Originally, the current season was set to be the last of the series, but there have been reports that a spinoff is in the works featuring Kelly Reilly’s Beth Dutton and her husband Rip Wheeler.

Hauser recently shared his own reflections on the show with People magazine ahead of tonight’s finale.

“It’s been an unbelievable experience the last couple of weeks of just seeing people out and about and their acknowledgment of the show and the character and what it’s meant to them,” he told the outlet.

He kept any details as to a spinoff or the overall future of “Yellowstone” quiet, but did say, “We will see what happens over the next year or so, and we’ll see what’s next. Hopefully, we can continue to get in people’s living rooms and entertain them the way we have over the last seven years.”

“I think America has spoken. They still love the show. There’s obviously just tons of people that every Sunday get together with their families, and we give them the experience of taking ’em out of their own living rooms and putting ’em in Montana and entertaining them,” Hauser said. “And I think ultimately it’s just that simple.”

The details surrounding the emergency spending bill are expected to be delayed and may “slip by a day” as the deadline to avoid a government shutdown looms.

Lawmarkers were expected to share the text of the emergency spending bill to avoid a government shutdown and address disaster relief on Sunday, but Fox News is told the text “may slip by a day.”

It comes as both House and Senate lawmakers negotiate over how large the disaster aid package should be, and whether it should be attached to an end-of-year federal funding bill that’s critical to avoiding a partial government shutdown during the holiday season.

This could pose a problem because government funding expires at 11:59:59 p.m. on Friday. Pushing this back means the House may not be able to process the bill until the end of the week.

It is also noted that it doesn’t take much for the Senate to slow things down if senators demand time.

The House has a so-called “three-day rule” which requires text to be posted for three days before debate and vote. However, waiting until tomorrow means the House may not consider the bill until Thursday or Friday – the peak of the deadline.

Fox News is told there are no hold-ups with government funding, through mid-March, or the disaster package for Hurricanes Helene, Milton, wildfires in Maui, the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse in Baltimore and tornadoes in the Midwest, but that there is an issue with agricultural provisions “and other things important to leaders on both sides.”

One source declined to answer when Fox was asked if there was an effort to tuck last-minute provisions into the catch-all measure for Syria or drones.

In early October, House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., told Fox News Digital that Helene would likely be “one of the most expensive storms that the country has ever encountered.”

The Biden administration has asked for over $100 billion in funding for disaster aid in the aftermath of hurricanes Helene and Milton.

The ultra-conservative House Freedom Caucus is calling on Republican leaders to reject President Biden’s disaster aid request.

President Biden, accompanied by Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm (R), gives an update on the government's response to Hurricanes Milton and Helene in the Roosevelt Room of the White House on October 11, 2024, in Washington, D.C.

The group is demanding a slimmed-down package covering what is “absolutely necessary,” to be offset with spending cuts elsewhere.

“Congress should not pass a whopping $100 billion unpaid disaster supplemental funding bill — that Democrats will use to cement their own unrelated priorities — in the waning days of Democrat control in Washington right before Republicans take control of the White House and both Chambers,” the House Freedom Caucus statement read.

“The House should consider only what is absolutely necessary right now to provide critical relief to hurricane victims and farmers, and pay for it with offsets from wasteful spending elsewhere in the government, then wait for President Trump to take office to better manage disaster relief.”

If new spending is not approved by way of appropriations bills or a stopgap measure, a partial government shutdown could happen before Christmas.

Ravens star Lamar Jackson launches 5 touchdowns to destroy Giants

0

The highest point spread of the NFL season came to fruition on Sunday as the Baltimore Ravens thrashed the New York Giants, 35-14, with Lamar Jackson throwing five touchdown passes to lead the way for the flock.

Baltimore, coming off its Week 14 bye, is now 9-5 on the season. Meanwhile, the Giants are eyeing the first overall pick of the 2025 NFL Draft after falling to 2-12.

It was an inauspicious start for the Ravens after Justice Hill got them in terrific field position with a long kickoff return. However, on the first offensive snap, Jackson fumbled what would’ve been a first down run.

But the Ravens forced back-to-back punts from the Giants before finally getting their way into the colored paint.

It was Mark Andrews finding the end zone on a 13-yard strike by Jackson, and he set a Ravens record in the process with his 48th career score for the most in franchise history.

Andrews finished the game with two catches for 24 yards and the score.

Rashod Bateman, though, was the Ravens’ leading receiver in this game despite having just three catches. He scored twice for Jackson, including a beautiful pass on the run for a 49-yard score.

Bateman would score again on the very next drive, this time from 20 yards out in the back left of the end zone.

The game would see a 21-7 score at halftime, with the Giants able to get Devin Singletary into the end zone to at least get on the board.

But Baltimore set the tone in the second half with a 12-play drive that churned 6:38 of clock and made it 28-7 with Devontez Walker scoring his first career touchdown, a 21-yard catch-and-run.

Meanwhile, the Giants had Tim Boyle enter the game after Tommy DeVito suffered a head injury. He was able to find Malik Nabers, who had 10 catches for 82 yards, in the end zone.

But that came after Jackson had found Hill for another long touchdown, this time a 27-yard catch-and-run for his fifth and final touchdown on the day.

Jackson was uber efficient in this one, going 21-for-25 for 290 yards while also rushing for 65 yards on six carries.

Sylvester Stallone makes unique request to protect mansion

0

Sylvester Stallone wants to keep moving forward with plans to build an underwater barrier near his Palm Beach home, despite the wrath of neighbors in his affluent, water-front community.

Stallone, 78, reportedly has plans to build a seaweed barrier in the Intracoastal Waterway by his $35 million mansion, according to The Palm Beach Post.

What appears to be billed as an environmental project needed to keep out debris and seaweed from the waterway, “the overall project purpose is to exclude boaters” from being near the property, a public notice from the Army Corps stated. Seaweed is listed as a secondary concern.

Neighbors were reportedly blindsided by the proposal request from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, which stated they have until 5 p.m. on Christmas Day to comment on Stallone’s project, according to the outlet.

The “Rocky” actor’s application also included a request for a lease of state land due to the positioning of the barrier which is owned by the state, according to records.

“He bought a beautiful property,” Stallone’s neighbor Bradford Gary told the outlet, calling the home “one of the nicest West Indies houses” in the North End. “I can see why you’d want to protect it. But you can’t just kind of stake your claim and think you own the water.”

Representatives for Stallone did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

In 2021, Stallone was confirmed as the buyer of a sprawling $35 million home, which sits on approximately 1.5 lakefront acres, facing over 250 feet of beach with a dock.

The total living space – including a main house, a guest house and a pool pavilion near the keyhole-shaped pool in the backyard – is over 13,000 square feet. Between the main and guest spaces, the property has seven bedrooms and 12 baths.

Records indicated the barrier application was submitted in January 2023, with plans received by the Army Corps in August. A month-long public comment period began on Oct. 24, where one question was submitted regarding manatees becoming entangled, and the proposed project’s effects on seagrasses.

“The Corps is reviewing the project purpose to determine if the use of barrier for the purpose of deterring boaters within the public waterway is permittable,” the Army Corps spokesperson said, according to The Palm Beach Post.

For residents Susan Gary and husband Bradford, the public-comment period notice was only recently received in the mail, and long after the window had closed for them to raise concerns.

“Usually when your neighbors are gonna do something, we’ve found in Palm Beach, usually they call,” Gary said. “A lot of neighbors are concerned.”

Last year, Stallone spoke about his decision to relocate to the East Coast after building his career and family in Los Angeles. In the opening scenes of his Netflix documentary, “Sly,” Stallone spoke about the decision to move, saying it was beneficial to his creativity.

“I wasn’t moving because ‘Oh, wow, I wanted another beautiful view.’ Any time changing that paradigm which you become used to, it’s literally to jump-start that process again,” he explained.

Flavin also made it clear that change was the primary factor for their move, not any concern over crime rates expressed by some celebrities.

Brock Purdy was maybe one or two plays away from helping the San Francisco 49ers to a Super Bowl championship over the Kansas City Chiefs with an apparently nervous Taylor Swift in attendance.

Swift, who is dating Chiefs star Travis Kelce, made an appearance at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, on Thursday and was asked whether the song “Paper Rings” was about Purdy.

“I don’t mind Brock Purdy. He put me through a lot last February. I was very stressed for a second,” Swift said while signing an autograph for a child.

Purdy was 23-of-38 with 255 passing yards and a touchdown pass. The touchdown pass to Jauan Jennings in the fourth quarter put the 49ers up three points with 11:22 left in the game.

The teams traded field goals to force overtime, and San Francisco went up three early in the overtime frame. However, Patrick Mahomes got the last laugh and his 3-yard pass to Mecole Hardman gave Kansas City its championship.

Swift’s song “Paper Rings” was off of her “Lover” album, which was released in 2019.

For what it’s worth, Purdy was still at Iowa State when “Lover” was released to the masses. He took over as the 49ers’ starting quarterback during the 2022 season and won his first 10 regular-season starts.

Eagles, Steelers players get into skirmish as rivalry game between title contenders heats up

0

It may be cold in Philadelphia, but the rivalry between the Eagles and the Pittsburgh Steelers heated up Sunday evening at Lincoln Financial Field.

A brief skirmish broke out in the first quarter after it appeared Steelers tight end Darnell Washington blocked Eagles defensive back Darius Slay into the back of the end zone. Players from both teams gathered around them and pushing and shoving ensued.

Washington and Steelers wide receiver Calvin Austin III were flagged for unnecessary roughness penalties. The Eagles accepted the penalty on Washington. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin was upset with the penalties and made it known to one of the officials.

Pittsburgh ended the drive with a 37-yard Chris Boswell field goal.

Philadelphia responded on the next drive. Jalen Hurts led the team down the field on a six-play, 70-yard drive that ended with a touchdown pass to A.J. Brown.

Both teams came into the so-called Battle of Pennsylvania as legitimate Super Bowl contenders. Russell Wilson seemed to be on his A-game in recent weeks with the defense playing as good as ever as they’ve been in contention for the AFC North crown.

The Eagles, though with some controversy surrounding Hurts and Brown, have maintained the NFC East lead over the contending Washington Commanders.

Oldest-known Chinese inscription in Israel found at the holy site of Mount Zion

0

Archaeologists recently discovered the oldest-known Chinese inscription at the holy site of Mount Zion, according to the Israeli Antiquities Authority (IAA).

The inscription, which was found on a porcelain bowl, was discovered during a joint excavation between the IAA and the Protestant Institute of Archaeology. The artifact demonstrates “the relationship between the Land of Israel and China,” according to a press release published by the agency this month.

According to the IAA, the porcelain bowl dates back to the 16th century. Its inscription reads, “Forever we will guard the eternal spring,” and was spotted sticking out of the dirt by an excavator.

“This past summer, during routine procedures for the upcoming excavation season, Michael Chernin, an archaeologist at the Israel Antiquities Authority, suddenly spotted a colorful object sticking out of the dirt that had been cleared away while preparing the site,” the IAA’s post reads. “When Michael pulled out the object and washed it, he recognized that there was an inscription on its bottom.”

The IAA reported that many of the excavation’s findings date from the Second Temple period to the Byzantine era but that the newly discovered porcelain bowl had an “unexpected origin.”

The bowl, which was likely produced during the Ming Dynasty between 1520 and 1570, is emblematic of the trade relations between Imperial China and the Ottoman Empire. It is the first bowl found in Israel to contain a Chinese inscription, though other ancient Chinese pottery has been found.

“According to Ming Dynasty annals, about 20 official Ottoman delegations visited the imperial court in Beijing during the 15th-17th centuries,” the Facebook post reads. “The trade relations between these empires are also described in travel books of merchants from this period.”

“Thus, the writings of the Chinese scholar Ma Li from 1541 note colonies of Chinese merchants in Lebanese coastal cities such as Beirut and Tripoli. The work even mentions other important cities in the region such as Jerusalem, Cairo and Aleppo.”

According to certain Christian traditions, the Last Supper is said to have been held in the Upper Room, or the Cenacle, of Mount Zion. In the New Testament, the mount is also described as symbolic of God’s promises.

The site is also religiously significant to Jews as the Ark of the Covenant was kept at Mount Zion during King David’s reign.

“In archaeological research, evidence of trade relations between merchants in the Land of Israel and the Far East is known even from earlier periods – for example, of various spices,” IAA Director Eli Escusido said in a statement. “But it is fascinating to meet evidence of these relations also in the form of an actual inscription, written in the Chinese language, and in an unexpected place – on Mount Zion in Jerusalem!”

Bernie Sanders joins list of progressives condemning violence while offering explanation for CEO shooting

0

Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., the latest progressive that appeared to offer a justification of the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson after condemning the violence.

On “Meet the Press” Sunday, Sanders was asked about Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s, D-Mass., controversial comments on Thompson’s death.

“Violence is never the answer. This guy gets a trial who’s allegedly killed the CEO of UnitedHealth[care], but you can only push people so far, and then they start to take matters into their own hands,” Warren said.

In responding to Warren’s comment, Sanders similarly appeared to offer an explanation for the killing after initially condemning the violence.

ELIZABETH WARREN SAYS KILLING OF UNITEDHEALTHCARE CEO WAS A WARNING: ‘YOU CAN ONLY PUSH PEOPLE SO FAR’

“Look, Elizabeth Warren obviously understands killing and murder and shooting somebody in the back is totally unacceptable, but what I think has happened in the last few months is that what you have seen rising up is people’s anger at a health insurance industry, which denies people the health care that they desperately need while they make billions and billions of dollars in profit,” Sanders said.

“So, killing anybody, shooting somebody in the back who was the father of two, is outrageous. And it’s unacceptable. Nobody, nobody should applaud it. I know Senator Warren did not. But I think what we need to ask ourselves when we talk about health care, is why we are the only major country on Earth not to guarantee health care to all people, why we have a life expectancy which is significantly lower than in other countries, why working-class people die five to 10 years shorter than the people on top,” he continued.

After receiving significant blowback, Warren later walked back her comments.

“Violence is never the answer. Period,” she told Fox News Digital. “I should have been much clearer that there is never a justification for murder.”

Luigi Mangione, who has been accused of killing Thompson, became a hero to far-left figures online as retribution against healthcare insurance companies denying coverage.

Other more mainstream progressive figures condemned the violence but conditioned their comments on attacking the healthcare system. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., similarly said the shooting was not justified but added that denied claims could be seen as “an act of violence.”

Jennifer Jason Leigh spotted in Hollywood ahead of new projects

0

Jennifer Jason Leigh, known for wide-ranging roles in films like “Fast Times at Ridgemont High,” “Single White Female” and “The Hateful Eight,” was seen in Los Angeles last week looking casual as she ran errands.

Leigh wore an orange sweatshirt and light blue jeans with sunglasses atop her head and green sandals.

She also carried an orange thermos and two purses as she headed for her car.

The actress starred in the Emmy-nominated fifth season of FX’s “Fargo” this year and has two movies in the works, “Night Always Comes” and “Crime 101,” both star-studded thrillers due next year, per Variety.

Leigh tends to stay private and out of the public eye despite a prolific and critically acclaimed career with origins in a Hollywood family.

The 62-year-old is the daughter of screenwriter Barbara Turner and actor Vic Morrow, who died in an on-set accident while filming a segment in “The Twilight Zone Movie” in 1982.

Her parents separated when she was 2 years old, and Leigh told The Guardian in 2018 that she and her father “were not close.”

“It’s hard,” she continued. “I don’t really talk about my father publicly because there are a lot of people that really love him very, very much, his work as an actor. I don’t want to disabuse them [of] their admiration.”

Leigh started her own career as a teen actor, making her film debut as a blind, deaf and mute girl in the 1981 slasher “Eyes of a Stranger.”

The next year, she landed her breakout role in 1982’s “Fast Times at Ridgemont High,” launching a career that included a variety of roles in films like “The Hitcher,” “Sister, Sister,” “Last Exit to Brooklyn” and “Backdraft.”

One of her best-known roles came in 1992’s erotic thriller “Single White Female,” playing a disturbed young woman who becomes obsessed with her roommate, played by Bridget Fonda.

Leigh’s varied career continued, including an Oscar nomination for best supporting actress in “The Hateful Eight” alongside Kurt Russell and Samuel L. Jackson.

While earning praise and the eventual nomination for her role in the film, Leigh credited her mom for her success.

“I’ve always had so much admiration for my mom,” she told People magazine in 2016. “She’s so inspiring as a woman and as an artist.”

She continued, “My mother always helped me because she was kind of a research fanatic. When she would write a screenplay, there would be so much research all over the walls. And so when I started working as an actress, I would do the same thing. She instilled in me a love of taking everything very seriously. It didn’t matter what it was.”

Dolphins’ Grant DuBose needs jersey cut off, leaves game on stretcher after scary hit vs Texans

0

A scary scene occurred in the Miami Dolphins-Houston Texans game on Sunday as wide receiver Grant DuBose had to be stretchered off the field with his jersey and pads cut off and his face mask and helmet removed after a bad hit.

The Dolphins receiver, who has been used sparingly this season, ran a slant route and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa threw a quick pass to him for a first down.

However, Texans safety Calen Bullock crashed down in an attempt to break up the pass, and he did his job but at the cost of hurting the receiver. DuBose was down on the turf with Bullock clearly realizing something was wrong.

The game needed to be stopped for 12 minutes as medical staff assessed the situation and made the decision to cut off DuBose’s jersey and pads before placing him on a stretcher to get off the field. Every Dolphins player and staff member not attending to DuBose was in a circle on one knee praying for their teammate.

Head coaches Mike McDaniel of the Dolphins and DeMeco Ryans of the Texans embraced as the scene played out as well.

DuBose left the game with what was officially called a head injury.

For the season, DuBose had one catch for 13 yards, which was a first down against the Buffalo Bills on Sept. 12.
