5 lies Biden used to break the border … and how Trump can fix it

0

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Over the past four years, President Joe Biden conducted an experiment: What happens if you open the U.S. border to nearly all who seek entry?

He released millions of aliens at the border, paroled over a million more using programs Congress never authorized, and allowed at least 2 million more to evade the Border Patrol.

That resulted in the fastest illegal influx in U.S. history. The foreign-born population now exceeds the previous high from the 1890s – over 15%.

The legacy media did its best to hide all this, habitually “gaslighting” their audience – telling many smaller lies in the hopes that eventually people will believe one big lie.

The big lie Biden and his media allies told America is that open borders bring unmitigated good. To prepare the public to swallow this, they told many little lies.

1. They pretended legal and illegal immigration are the same

They aren’t. Congress authorized around 850,000 legal immigrants a year, based on family relationships and labor needs. The millions Biden has paroled, released or given “temporary” protection to under dubious programs are outside what Congress intended. And unless Congress changes it, the law should be upheld.

2. They said illegal aliens commit fewer crimes than Americans

The methodology of studies claiming this is suspect, but we know some illegal aliens do commit additional crimes, every one of which is preventable if laws are enforced. One report estimates that “crime by illegal aliens … cost the country some $166.5 billion.” But the cost in victims assaulted or murdered, and a declining sense of public safety, is incalculable.

3. They told you that all immigrants boost the economy

Which ones? Those under 30 with doctorates in rocket science do. But those without a high-school degree, skills or English don’t. Almost 60% of families headed by an illegal immigrant are on a federal welfare program. Illegal aliens are less educated than U.S. citizens. Over their lifetimes, most of those let in under Biden’s border boom will be a fiscal burden to the country, not a benefit.

4. They told you illegal immigrants cost nothing

According to one congressional estimate, illegal immigrants cost over $150 billion a year. To take but one example, the Biden administration wrote a rule forcing Americans to pay for health insurance for people here illegally. “Congress never intended that illegal aliens should receive Obamacare benefits,” said Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach, after a federal court overturned Biden’s rule this week.

5. They told you it was inevitable

While the Biden administration undid every effective policy of previous eras, they asked you to believe that mass illegal migration wasn’t their fault. But it was not earthquakes, wars, or feckless governments that attracted the world’s economic migrants to our borders. This week, even the New York Times admitted: “the Biden administration’s policy appears to have been the biggest factor.”

Some of us have been saying that for years. But the legacy media only turned the lights back up when their favorite team lost an election.

The people elected Trump to fix Biden’s mistake. How? The recipe is clear, and with Tom Homan as border czar, the cook is in the kitchen.

Migrant Crossings At Southern Border Increase Ahead Of Title 42 Expiration

1. Reinstate the Migrant Protection Protocols

Also known as Remain in Mexico, this policy discourages fraudulent asylum claims by keeping applicants outside the U.S. until their claims are decided. We also need to conclude Asylum Cooperative Agreements with every possible country, to deal with refugee claimants closest to their homes.

2. Turn off the cash spigot

Mass movement of people from the Third World to the First is facilitated by the UN and globalist elites – elected and unelected. Billions of taxpayer dollars have been spent to bring inadmissible aliens to and into the U.S. We can reverse the polarity of this flow by defunding NGOs that facilitate the process and by funding law enforcement.

3. Seal the Border

Authorize Border Patrol to remove or detain illegal entrants, not process and release them. Re-activate lights, sensors and other measures Biden’s DHS sidelined. Close gaps in the border wall. Barriers don’t stop everyone, but they channel illegal crossing to ports of entry. And, given that both sides of the wall are generally in the United States, we can prosecute anyone cutting or climbing it.

4. Enforce laws in the U.S. interior

The Biden administration hamstrung Immigration and Customs Enforcement with prohibitions, arbitrary limits, and paperwork. Biden’s dereliction of duty has created a huge backlog in enforcement, including deportations, that needs a major effort to reduce.

5. Get states on board

States and cities need to hand over aliens in their custody to federal authorities when asked. They need to stop giving out jobs, drivers’ licenses, in-state tuition, welfare, and other benefits to people here illegally.

Biden broke the border. America saw the results and voted accordingly. It’s time to restore the rule of law, the value of American citizenship, and legal immigration that puts Americans first.

Washington Post admits science behind puberty blockers and hormones for minors not clear

0

The Washington Post argued in a new editorial that the benefits of gender-transition treatments for minors like puberty blockers have not been scientifically proven.

“Treatment results that look impressive in small groups often vanish when larger groups are studied,” The Washington Post editorial board wrote in a piece Sunday headlined, “Look to science, not law, for real answers on youth gender medicine.”

The Post was responding to arguments in front of the Supreme Court over Tennessee’s puberty blocker ban in the U.S. v. Skrmetti case. Experts believe the Supreme Court’s decision in the case could set a precedent that will shape laws about transgender treatments for children across the country.

“That’s why the Food and Drug Administration generally requires large, randomized controlled trials of drugs: to ensure that encouraging initial results aren’t mere statistical noise,” The Post wrote.

‘OVERWHELMING EVIDENCE’ OF NEGATIVE CONSEQUENCES FROM GENDER ‘TREATMENTS’ FOCUS OF LANDMARK SUPREME COURT CASE

“The court’s decision will be consequential in the 24 states with these restrictions, but it won’t resolve the crux of the debate over pediatric gender medicine: whether, as the plaintiffs argued, the treatments can be lifesaving or, as some global health authorities have determined, the evidence is too thin to conclude that they are beneficial and the risks are not well-understood,” the editorial board argued.

It recounted a story this year about a California doctor who admitted to not publicizing a study that found puberty blockers didn’t lead to mental health improvements, for fear of the findings being “weaponized” by transgender health care critics.

“Medical progress is impossible unless null or negative results are published as promptly as positive ones,” the board wrote. “The failure to adequately assess these treatments gives Tennessee reason to worry about them — and legal room to restrict them. We have serious reservations when states make decisions about minors’ medical care, rather than leaving them to parents. But in the absence of clear data — and with the possibility of significant publication bias or researchers massaging their results — parents might not have adequate information.”

The Post also pointed to debate over puberty blockers in Europe, with “[m]ultiple European health authorities” reviewing scientific evidence for puberty blocker use in minors and “conclud[ing] that it was ‘very low certainty,’ ‘lacking’ and ‘limited by methodological weaknesses.’ Last week, Britain banned the use of puberty blockers indefinitely due to safety concerns.”

MONTANA SUPREME COURT BLOCKS BAN ON TRANSGENDER SURGERIES, PROMPTING OUTCRY FROM GOP LAWMAKER, SUPPORTERS

“No matter how the court rules, though, the federal government should supply the missing evidence at the heart of this dispute,” the Post’s editorial board wrote.  (Photo by Kevin Dietsch/Getty Images)

“No matter how the court rules, though, the federal government should supply the missing evidence at the heart of this dispute,” The Post wrote. “Randomized trials would be best, though harder to pull off now, since children who are placed in a control group might drop out and seek blockers and hormones elsewhere. Congress should nevertheless fund new research of maximum possible rigor, overseen by scientists who are not gender medicine practitioners. Those studies should set timetables and specify the outcomes to be studied in advance to avoid the risk that researchers will pick and choose what to show the public. Children with gender dysphoria deserve clearer answers.”

U.S. v. Skrmetti centers on a Tennessee law that bans gender-transition treatments for minors in the state. The law, passed in March 2023, also takes aim at health care providers in Tennessee who continue to provide gender-transition treatments to transgender minors, opening them up to fines, lawsuits and other liability.

Packers handle Seahawks to maintain playoff spot; Geno Smith leaves game with knee injury

0

The Green Bay Packers picked up a crucial win over the Seattle Seahawks, 30-13, to help their playoff chances on Sunday night.

The Packers moved to 10-4 on the year, maintaining their spot in the wild card race.

Meanwhile, the Seahawks fell out of first place in the NFC West, as their 8-6 record allows the Los Angeles Rams to move ahead of them due to the current tiebreaker.

Things got off to a hot start for the Packers, who came off a tough loss to their divisional foe, the Detroit Lions, last week.

It was star running back Josh Jacobs finding some huge holes his offensive line created in the Seahawks’ defense that allowed him to tally 42 total yards to ultimately get a one-yard touchdown run into the end zone for the quick 7-0 lead.

Then, Packers quarterback Jordan Love threw a quick pass on the next drive to Romeo Doubs, who fought his way for the 13-yard touchdown.

Meanwhile, Geno Smith was not finding the same success with his offense, as they only totaled three points in the first half.

It included a red zone interception from Smith on third-and-9 on Green Bay’s 14-yard line, as he was looking for tight end Noah Fant, but Carrington Valentine jumped the route to pick him off.

However, the second half saw a Seattle defense that stymied the Packers’ solid run game, and that ultimately led to a number of three-and-outs to give the Seahawks a chance to get back into the game.

Then, Smith was injured after trying to make a pass midway through the third quarter, and slamming his helmet on the sideline showed that he was clearly injured.

Sam Howell, the Washington Commanders’ quarterback from 2023, took his place under center, and he took over the rest of the way as Smith was ruled out with a knee injury.

The Seahawks were able to find the end zone in the fourth quarter, as Zach Charbonnet, taking over the starting role again for an injured Kenneth Walker III, got the right blocks and sprinted 24 yards to make it a 23-13 game.

It was too little, too late though, as the Packers held off Howell to come away with the victory.

The nail in the coffin was Doubs’ second touchdown catch of the game, and it was a terrific one as he picked it off the turf in the back of the end zone to make it count for six.

Looking at the stat sheet, Love finished the game 20-of-27 for 229 yards with his two touchdowns, while Jacobs had 94 rushing yards on 26 carries and 42 yards through the air on four catches with his rushing score to open the game.

New York police force made illegal arrests, strip searched nearly every person: DOJ

0

A suburban New York police department regularly violated civil rights by making illegal arrests and conducting illegal strip and cavity searches, the Department of Justice said in a new report.

The report, released Thursday, identified that the Mount Vernon Police Department used excessive force in numerous ways, including by unnecessarily escalating minor encounters and overusing tasers and closed-fist strikes, particularly against people who were already on the ground, controlled by multiple officers or already restrained.

It also identified concerns with how the police department conducted vehicle stops and collected evidence, and noted concerns over discriminatory policing. The police department was also cited for making arrests without probable cause.

No single incident sparked the investigation into Mount Vernon’s police force, although the illegal 2020 strip search of two elderly women — ages 65 and 75 respectively — was emblematic of the department’s civil rights violations, the report said.

The two women were arrested on suspicion of purchasing drugs, the report said. Officers found no evidence of a crime during a search of their car, but still took them into custody and transported them to a police station in handcuffs.

Supervisors at the station approved a fully nude strip search by detectives who “told them to bend over and cough,” according to the report.

An internal investigation determined that the officers had lied about the women purchasing drugs and, as a form of discipline, the officers involved were docked a few vacation days.

“Our investigation has found reasonable cause to believe that MVPD engages in a pattern or practice of conduct that violates the constitutional rights of the citizens it has sworn to protect,” U.S. Attorney Damian Williams for the Southern District of New York said, in part, in a statement.

Mount Vernon’s police force held a practice until at least the fall of 2022 to strip search every person placed under arrest, according to the report.

Officers also strip-searched people they did not place under arrest, and detained and interrogated people without formally arresting them.

People were also arrested for verbally criticizing officers, which is protected under the right to freedom of speech and expression.

The Justice Department said illegal strip and cavity searches continued until at least 2023. While the practice was “curtailed” during the probe, investigators said “we are not confident that these practices have ended.”

“These unlawful searches were deeply ingrained in MVPD’s practices, occurring over many years, and were highly intrusive, the report said.

The report identified cases of unconstitutional arrests, including an incident where officers transported the mother of a shooting victim to a police station and interrogated her while her daughter, who was struck by a stray bullet, was rushed to the hospital. The daughter died while her mother was in police custody. Officers failed to articulate any probable cause for the mother being held.

The police force also had financial mismanagement, which exacerbated pervasive human rights violations caused by illegal policies and lack of training, the DOJ said, adding that low salaries make it difficult to attract and retain quality officers, train staff and pay bills, which diminished its supply budget.

The Justice Department said the city is already taking steps to improve its policing practices. The report offered a series of recommendations, such as implementing measures “to ensure that unconstitutional strip and body cavity searches do not take place.”

Mount Vernon Mayor Shawyn Patterson-Howard, a Democrat, said in a statement that the city would work with the Justice Department to address its findings of civil rights violations.

“We wholeheartedly support our good officers and at the same time will not tolerate and will punish unconstitutional policing,” Patterson-Howard said.

DOJ IG REVEALS 26 FBI INFORMANTS WERE PRESENT ON JAN. 6

The mayor said three police officers and two civilian employees had been fired following an investigation in 2021 without providing details about when and why those individuals were fired.

Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke of the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division said the investigation into MVPD “reveals a pattern and practice of unlawful conduct that can and must be addressed,” adding that the department must implement measures to “end these unconstitutional practices.”

“Police reform will not happen overnight,” Clarke added. “Across the country, the department’s investigations, findings reports and resulting reform measures help law enforcement agencies become the departments that their citizens need and deserve.”

CNN accused of misleading court on net worth for high-profile defamation case

0

Ahead of a high-stakes defamation trial, CNN is now being accused of misleading the court regarding documents on its net worth.

U.S. Navy veteran Zachary Young alleges that CNN smeared his security consulting company, Nemex Enterprises Inc., by implying it illegally profited when helping people flee Afghanistan during the Biden administration’s military withdrawal from the country in 2021. He is now suing CNN claiming it “destroyed his reputation and business” during a segment that year on Jake Tapper’s program “The Lead.”

In September, Florida Judge William Henry ordered CNN to comply with a subpoena to provide additional financial information that the cable network presented to its parent company, Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD).

Although CNN claimed it would present these files, documents exclusively obtained by Newsbusters found that “Plaintiffs learned that CNN never intended to produce documents showing assets and liabilities (because they don’t exist).”

CNN faces a defamation lawsuit as the network gears up for Thursday’s presidential debate between President Biden and former President Trump.

A civil trial involving a defamation lawsuit against CNN is scheduled for next month. (CNN/Screenshot)

PLAINTIFFS IN HIGH-STAKES CNN DEFAMATION SUIT WANT TO GRILL JAKE TAPPER AGAIN

“Not only did CNN and WBD fail to provide any of the promised documents identifying assets and liabilities, but CNN’s representative also failed to supply any information about the net worth number CNN provided (but disclaimed) in its interrogatory response. Indeed, CNN’s corporate representative did not provide any information about net worth at all, even though net worth was one of the noticed topics—indeed the main topic,” they read.

The documents also found that the reason CNN couldn’t provide financial information was because “its financial condition cannot be disaggregated—at all—from the financial condition of its parent company” Warner Bros. Discovery.

Young’s legal team are now requesting the court enter an order requiring Warner Bros. Discovery’s financial statements to be used for determining a potential punitive damages award and preclude CNN from introducing any evidence or argument based on its net worth.

A civil trial is scheduled to begin on Jan. 6, 2025, in front of Judge William Henry in the Circuit Court for Bay County, Florida.

Fox News Digital reached out to CNN and Warner Bros. Discovery for a comment.

The CNN segment at the center of the suit, which was shared on social media and also repackaged for CNN’s website, began with Tapper informing viewers that CNN correspondent Alex Marquardt discovered “Afghans trying to get out of the country face a black market full of promises, demands of exorbitant fees, and no guarantee of safety or success.”

Tapper tossed to Marquardt, who said “desperate Afghans are being exploited” and need to pay “exorbitant, often impossible amounts” to flee the country. Marquardt then singled out Young, putting a picture of his face on the screen and saying his company was asking for $75,000 to transport a vehicle of passengers to Pakistan for $14,500 per person to end up in the United Arab Emirates.

“Prices well beyond the reach of most Afghans,” Marquardt told viewers.

U.S. NAVY VETERAN SUING CNN LANDS KEY LEGAL VICTORIES AHEAD OF HIGH-STAKES DEFAMATION TRIAL

Earlier this year, judges with the First District Court of Appeal for the State of Florida ruled that Young offered evidence “of actual malice, express malice, and a level of conduct outrageous enough” to warrant a trial.

CNN faces a defamation lawsuit as the network gears up for Thursday’s presidential debate between President Biden and former President Trump.

U.S. Navy veteran Zachary Young believes CNN “destroyed his reputation and business by branding him an illegal profiteer who exploited desperate Afghans” during a Nov. 11, 2021, segment on CNN’s “The Lead with Jake Tapper.”  (CNN/Screenshot)

The judges wrote, “Young proffered CNN messages and emails that showed internal concern about the completeness and veracity of the reporting — the story is ‘a mess,’ ‘incomplete,’ not ‘fleshed out for digital,’ ‘the story is 80% emotion, 20% obscured fact,’ and ‘full of holes like Swiss cheese,’” but the network aired it anyway.

JONATHAN TURLEY: What ABC's apology to Trump reveals about the media landscape

0

The late Richard J. Daley famously declared that “we as Democrats have no apologies to make to anyone.”

That doctrine seems still to be alive and well with many in the party when it comes to President-elect Trump. After ABC News and its anchor George Stephanopoulos apologized to Trump last week to settle a defamation lawsuit, many Democrats were apoplectic.

Marc Elias, the controversial lawyer involved in the funding of the infamous Steele dossier by the Clinton campaign, denounced ABC News for bending a knee to Trump. He then trolled for contributions for his own organization as “unapologetically pro-democracy.”

GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS AND ABC APOLOGIZE TO TRUMP, AGREE TO PAY $15M TO SETTLE DEFAMATION CASE

Of course, ABC was not apologizing for advancing democracy but for alleged defamation. The network and the anchor expressed “regret” for stating that Trump was found “liable for rape” in a New York civil case. (The jury found that Trump had sexually abused and defamed E. J. Carroll. While Trump was never convicted of rape, Stephanopoulos repeated the claim 10 times in his interview with Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C.)

What made the settlement interesting is that ABC was previously relying on the statements of the judge in the New York case, Judge Lewis Kaplan, who declared that the charge of rape was “substantially true… as many people commonly understand the word ‘rape.’”

Stephanopoulos played up his defiance of Trump with CBS’ late-night host Stephen Colbert. To the delight of Colbert, who regularly attacked Trump on his show and openly supported both Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, Stephanopoulos proclaimed that he wouldn’t be “cowed out of doing my job because of a threat.” He added, “Trump sued me because I used the word ‘rape,’ even though a judge said that’s in fact what did happen. We filed a motion to dismiss.”

So what happened?

Well, two things and both are related to the timing of the settlement.

JOE CONCHA: TRUMP EXTENDS WINNING STREAK WITH VICTORY OVER ABC, STEPHANOPOULOS

First, the settlement came just before ABC and Stephanopoulos were to be called for depositions, as ordered by U.S. Magistrate Judge Lisette M. Reid. That discovery was likely to prove more embarrassing for the network than it would Trump and could have revealed internal messages on the controversy.

The danger is on full display in another courtroom where CNN has been losing critical motions in a defamation case where punitive damages could result. Anchor Jake Tapper and CNN are being sued by Navy veteran Zachary Young after falsely suggesting that he and his organization were exploiting desperate Afghan refugees. Discovery uncovered malicious and unprofessional emails from producers promising to “nail” Young and making the segment his “funeral.” Disney was not eager to put its matinée personality, Stephanopoulos, through a similar meat grinder.

PLAINTIFFS IN HIGH-STAKES CNN DEFAMATION SUIT WANT TO GRILL JAKE TAPPER AGAIN

Second, the settlement occurred after an election in which Trump won the trifecta of the White House, Congress and the popular vote.

Like most media, ABC was known for its unrelenting attacks on Trump and favorable coverage toward his opponents. The network’s iconic show, “The View,” has become an unhinged, partisan rave session against Trump, Republicans and the majority of American voters. The show’s hosts now regularly read retractions or corrections to blunt allegedly defamatory screeds from its hosts. It has gotten to the point that the ABC general counsel may soon need a chair at the table.

Disney is trying to adopt a more neutral stance after years of opposition to its stances on political issues and accusations of ultra-woke products. It is still struggling to appeal to over half of the country, including the most recent controversy involving the star of its soon-to-be-released remake of “Snow White.”

After the election, actress Rachel Zegler declared herself “speechless” over the results. That would have been a welcomed state for Disney, but the actress then found her voice in the most polarizing way, publicly praying, “May Trump supporters and Trump voters and Trump himself never know peace.” Zegler was clearly miscast in the film. It was the evil Queen that was supposed to harken “a blast of wind to fan my hate.”

DEMOCRATS FRUSTRATED BY HUNTER PARDON CONSIDER WITHHOLDING FUTURE BIDEN PRESIDENTIAL LIBRARY DONATIONS: REPORT

On top of these controversies, ABC News was attacked by many for its handling of the Trump debate with Vice President Kamala Harris and its biased “fact-checking.”

With networks like MSNBC and CNN in a ratings and revenue free fall after the election, Disney clearly wants to start fresh with the new administration. Both are facing possible sales at potentially bargain-basement prices.

The media echo chamber against Trump failed spectacularly in this election. With record levels of distrust of mainstream or legacy media, the public has increasingly shifted to new media.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINION

In the meantime, Trump has been running the table on lawfare with the dismissal of the two federal cases and a victory on presidential immunity in the Supreme Court. The Georgia prosecution is falling apart over the conduct of the prosecutors rather than that of the defendant. The New York civil case faced a highly skeptical court over the grotesque award against Trump and his corporation.

Even Democratic politicians like Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., now feel comfortable admitting publicly that the New York hush money prosecution was “bulls—.”

For many politicians and pundits, the election seemed to flip the magnetic poles of the country. We now have ABC News giving millions to the Trump Presidential Library as Democratic donors move toward a boycott of the Biden Presidential Library.

With networks like MSNBC and CNN struggling for their very existence, ABC is intent on having a chair when the music stops. While the ABC settlement may not be an admission of guilt, it is a recognition of the reality after this historic election.

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is growing more brazen by the day in its aggressive spying right here in the United States and pre-positioning for cyberattacks on our critical infrastructure. Recent reporting that China-sponsored hackers compromised America’s major cellular network providers should be the last straw. It is time for Congress and the incoming Trump administration to impose escalating costs to deter the CCP.

According to reports, the People’s Republic of China (PRC) state-sponsored cyber actors compromised more than a dozen telecom providers — including America’s major cellular networks — capturing real-time phone call audio and text messages and stealing the data of millions of Americans. Federal authorities have described this CCP targeting effort as a “broad and significant cyber espionage campaign”— one that continues, as these CCP-affiliated actors are still in our telecommunications networks today.

China appears to have targeted President-elect Donald Trump, Vice President-elect J.D. Vance and staffers of Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign. However, the total number of victims is unknown, and the list of known targets continues to grow.

The breach of these cellular networks means that the data, text messages and phone calls of many regular Americans have likely been siphoned off for use by our foremost foreign adversary, the CCP.

This attack on American sovereignty should not come as a surprise. For too long, the CCP has paid no real price for its increasingly aggressive intrusions into our homeland.

For years, the CCP has operated secret police stations right here in the United States, using them to persecute Americans on U.S. soil if they dared to challenge the party’s line.

When China flew a spy balloon across the entire United States, the Biden administration watched and tolerated the balloon’s overflight for days — and China paid no price diplomatically, economically or otherwise for the intrusion.

A year after the spy balloon fiasco, top cybersecurity officials told Congress that Volt Typhoon, a PRC state-sponsored cyber actor, had burrowed in our critical infrastructure for at least five years. This includes the services Americans depend on daily, such as water providers, electric grids, oil and gas pipelines and transportation infrastructure.

Volt Typhoon’s use of “living off the land” techniques marked a shift in China’s tactics — one that has made them harder to detect. As a result, Volt Typhoon can disrupt our critical infrastructure at any time, wreaking havoc across the country and potentially putting American lives in peril.

In the face of each brazen attack, the Biden administration played defense. It is past time to hit back.

The CCP’s spying campaign will continue to escalate until we impose real costs on the Chinese Communist Party to make the CCP think twice before targeting the United States.

Sending a message of American strength will require Congress and the incoming administration to respond by imposing escalating costs on the CCP that are directly targeted at the party’s core interests.

Even as it pursues the world’s largest military build-up, the Chinese government still spends more on internal security than national defense, pointing to the party’s fundamental insecurity about its ability to exert its will over the Chinese people.

Our policy options should target this vulnerability, including by rapidly escalating sanctions against top CCP officials who are involved in human rights abuses, such as the genocide against the Uyghurs. Existing authorities should be used to impose costs on China’s national economic champions, whose successes are seen as vital to the party’s interests. Finally, we should expose the personal fortunes and malign activities of senior CCP officials and deny visas to their families and associates. These actions could impose real costs that could change future calculations.

We must also be unafraid to pursue cyber-enabled options to counter CCP espionage and targeting of critical infrastructure. For example, the President should give our government cyber operators greater latitude to conduct offensive operations.

At the same time, the U.S. needs to get its own cyber house in order. Our sclerotic cyber threat notification system is broken and needs radical changes to operate at the speed and scale of the evolving threat landscape. We need clear rules for the private sector that incentivize timely information sharing and appropriately hold companies accountable for failures to protect their systems and their customers’ data.

Volt Typhoon’s use of “living off the land” techniques marked a shift in China’s tactics — one that has made them harder to detect. As a result, Volt Typhoon can disrupt our critical infrastructure at any time, wreaking havoc across the country and potentially putting American lives in peril.

Cybersecurity teams must aggressively seek out and fix the most dangerous risks to their networks. We also need to empower private sector threat hunters to aggressively seek out intelligence so they can get ahead of the threat, rather than simply playing whack-a-mole against China’s relentless intrusion attempts.

Defending America on U.S. soil and in the digital realm goes beyond firewalls and regulations. It requires a strategic shift that prioritizes consequences over containment.

As the threat of CCP’s aggression continues to grow, it is clear that America’s security cannot rely on defensive measures alone. The time has come for the Executive Branch to respond with targeted but decisive actions that impose actual costs on the CCP.

An adviser to President-elect Trump’s campaign, Alex Bruesewitz, passed out and collapsed as he was speaking onstage during a New York Young Republican Club gala Sunday night.

Bruesewitz, 27, was introducing incoming White House senior aide Dan Scavino inside a venue in Manhattan when he began stumbling over his words and fainted, video on social media shows.

Several people quickly rushed to his aid after his collapse. It was not immediately clear what caused him to faint.

Master of ceremonies Raheem Kassam, also a former aide of British conservative politician Nigel Farage, later assured the audience that Bruesewitz was doing fine backstage and that he even asked if he “look[ed] cool” when he fainted.

“I talked to our friend Alex Bruesewitz and you know what he said to me? He goes ‘Did I at least look cool?’ I said Alex, you used gravity like I’ve seen nobody use gravity before in their lives,” Kassam said. “But he’s recuperating back there, so give him a big cheer so he’ll hear you.”

Trump also said following the collapse that he believes Bruesewitz will be fine, according to the New York Post.

“I know that Alex is going to be fine because he’s a tough son of a gun,” Trump said. “There’s no doubt about that. So I want to say hello to Alex, because he’s a very special guy.”

Does red wine boost heart health? Sip on this from a cardiovascular surgeon

Is red wine good for your heart?

A cardiovascular surgeon in Savannah, Georgia, has some definite thoughts about the matter.

“In a nutshell, red wine is not good for your heart,” Dr. Jeremy London told Fox News Digital. “The amount of red wine you would have to drink to get any benefit from resveratrol would be excessive.”

Resveratrol is “found in the skins of grapes and in certain other plants, fruits and seeds,” according to the National Cancer Institute. “It is being studied in the prevention of cancer and heart disease. It is a type of antioxidant and a type of polyphenol.”

‘I’M A HEART SURGEON, HERE’S WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT EGGS, YOUR HEART AND YOUR HEALTH’

London discussed this topic in one of his popular social media videos. (See the video at the top of this article.)

Red wine contains resveratrol, London told his followers. It “has been shown that this can cause dilation of blood vessels, make platelets slippery so that you don’t get the blockages in the arteries, but this has never really been proven in humans.”

For someone to get adequate levels of resveratrol, London said in the video, “you would have to drink a huge amount of red wine – and this amount of alcohol would clearly outweigh any benefits that you got from the polyphenols from the skin of the grape itself.”

An alternative solution, according to information on the Mayo Clinic’s website, is to eat grapes or drink grape juice instead.

DR. NICOLE SAPHIER: ‘IT’S A WELL-KNOWN FACT THAT ALCOHOL IS LINKED TO A RISE IN CANCERS’

“Simply eating grapes or drinking grape juice might be a way to get resveratrol without drinking alcohol,” the Mayo Clinic said.

“Red and purple grape juices may have some of the same heart-healthy pluses of red wine.”

There also are resveratrol supplements, the Mayo Clinic noted.

“However, they might cause side effects,” according to the Mayo Clinic.

For those who enjoy a glass of red wine at dinner, the surgeon had some parting advice.

“And research suggests that the body can’t absorb most of the resveratrol in supplements.”

CAN RED WINE IN MODERATION BOOST BRAIN AND HEART HEALTH? SOME EXPERTS STILL SAY YES

Is drinking white wine better for the heart?

Dr. Jeremy London, a cardiovascular surgeon in Savannah, Georgia, speaks to Fox News Digital.

“Although white wine contains polyphenols, resveratrol is found primarily in the grape’s skin and is typically removed in white wine production,” London told Fox News Digital.

While many studies have shown that drinking limited amounts of alcohol – not just red wine – can help the heart, more research is needed to determine whether red wine is better for the heart than other types of alcohol like beer or liquor, according to the Mayo Clinic.
