Attorneys general from 24 states are urging the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn a lower court ruling and uphold an Arizona law to prohibit biological boys from competing on girls’ sports teams.
The petition comes after a federal appeals court ruled that the law likely violates the Equal Protection Clause of the Constitution.
“Sports teams are divided by sex to begin with to give girls a level playing field so they’re not competing against boys,” South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson said in a news release. “Arizona’s law restricting girls’ sports teams to biological females is just common sense, and it protects girls from competing against bigger, stronger males who identify as females.”

In addition to Wilson, the attorneys general supporting the petition are those from Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Wyoming.
The petition notes that these states have laws similar to Arizona’s that restrict girls’ sports to biological females.
It also argues that the Equal Protection Clause does not prohibit states from offering separate sports teams for men, women, boys and girls.

“In sports, equal access means a level playing field,” the attorneys general write in their brief. “And a level playing field usually means sports teams divided by sex so that girls can compete against other girls.”
“Basing the distinction on biology rather than gender identity makes sense because it is the differences in biology—not gender identity—that call for separate teams in the first place: Whatever their gender identity, biological males are, on average, stronger and faster than biological females. If those average physical differences did not matter, there would be no need to segregate sports teams at all,” they continued.

The attorneys general are asking the high court to “make it clear that the Constitution does not prohibit states from saving women’s sports from unfair competition and providing meaningful athletic opportunities for girls and women,” according to Wilson’s news release.
STOUGHTON, MASS. (WHDH) – Three children whose disappearance triggered an Amber Alert out of Stoughton Friday have been found safe in Boston, state police said.
State police reported that they were looking for Ashyley Vazquez, who was believed to have kidnapped three children, ages 8, 9, and 11.
No additional information was immediately available.

A pair of human smugglers were convicted this week in Minnesota, following the deaths of an Indian family, including two children, who froze during a blizzard in 2022 while attempting to illegally cross into the U.S. from Canada.
The jury in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, found Harshkumar Ramanlal Patel, 29, and Steve Shand, 50, guilty on four counts, including conspiracy to bring migrants into the country illegally.
Patel is an Indian national and Shand is a U.S. citizen from Florida.
“This trial exposed the unthinkable cruelty of human smuggling and of those criminal organizations that value profit and greed over humanity,” Minnesota U.S. Attorney Andy Luger said in a statement. “To earn a few thousand dollars, these traffickers put men, women and children in extraordinary peril leading to the horrific and tragic deaths of an entire family. Because of this unimaginable greed, a father, a mother and two children froze to death in sub-zero temperatures on the Minnesota-Canadian border.”

Jagdish Patel, his wife, Vaishaliben, who were both in their 30s, and their children: daughter Vihangi, 11, and son Dharmik, 3, all froze to death in January 2022 while attempting to illegally cross into Minnesota via an operation coordinated by Harshkumar Patel and Shand. The family was not related to Harshkumar Patel.
“It’s pretty brutal,” juror Kevin Paul told reporters after the trial of the weather conditions where the family was trying to cross. “I couldn’t imagine having to do what they had to do out there in the middle of nowhere.”
The family was among 11 migrants in the same group who made the treacherous crossing to Minnesota that January. After only seven made it across, the family was found dead the next day by Canadian authorities.
“Human smuggling is a vile crime that preys on the most vulnerable, exploiting their desperation and dreams for a better life,” Jamie Holt, a Special Agent with Homeland Security Investigations, said. “The suffering endured by this family is unimaginable and it is our duty to ensure that such atrocities are met with the full force of the law.”

Prosecutors said Patel, who was also known as “Dirty Harry,” organized the scheme and Patel was the driver. Both men were involved in an international smuggling ring that help Indians illegally cross the border.
Another human smuggler, who was part of the ring, testified during the trial that he had made more than $400,000 smuggling more than 500 Indian migrants across the U.S. border and that the migrants usually work low-wage jobs in the U.S. to pay off their debts to the smugglers, which can be as much as $100,000.

The pair could face up to 20 years in prison, depending on the prosecutors’ recommendation.
Shand’s defense team had claimed that he was an unwitting participant in the scheme, while Patel’s attorneys argued that the charges against him were a case of mistaken identity.

More than 14,000 Indian migrants were arrested at the Canadian border while attempting to cross into the U.S. illegally, in the year that ended on Sept. 30.
It accounted for 60% of arrests along the border and has increased 10-fold in the last two years.

Choi has always been influenced by her family, even long before she became a mother herself. She told Fox News Digital that her grandmother is her “biggest inspiration,” not only as a chef but as a human being.
“She is one of those people who has really such a special impact on my life,” Choi said. “She raised me to love people. And then how you show that love was through food, for her. And I learned that from her.”
Her grandmother cooked everything with her whole heart, Choi said — which Choi believes is the secret of why her grandmother’s food tasted so good.

“And so that’s what I always like to keep in my mind. That’s my motto as a chef,” she said. “Cook with your heart, cook with love and think about the person who you are cooking for.”

WASHINGTON (AP) — Jaylen Brown scored 31 points, and the Boston Celtics overcame an off night for Jayson Tatum to beat the Washington Wizards 108-96 in the NBA Cup on Friday night.
The Celtics improved to 2-1 in East Group C of this competition with one game remaining. Washington is 0-2 and has lost 10 in a row overall.
The Wizards hung in there in front of a crowd that included recently injured Capitals star Alex Ovechkin. Washington trailed by five in the final minute when Brown made a high arcing jumper to make it 99-92 with 46 seconds remaining.
Tatum went 0 for 10 from 3-point range and scored 16 points, although a couple free throws with 11 seconds left enabled him to extend his streak to 55 consecutive games with at least 15 points.
Jordan Poole led Washington with 23 points. Neither team shot well from 3-point range, with Boston finishing 11 of 46 and the Wizards going 7 of 28.

A watch belonging to Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce was reportedly found over 1,000 miles away from his Kansas mansion that was broken into last month.
The homes of Kelce and teammate Patrick Mahomes were burglarized last month shortly before one of their games — Kelce’s house is in Leawood, Kansas, while Mahomes’ residence is in nearby Belton, Missouri.
The watch was recovered in Providence, Rhode Island, where Kelce’s girlfriend, pop star Taylor Swift, also owns a home.

NFL players were cautioned by the league to be on high alert after the homes were broken into last month in a wave of burglaries reportedly tied to international organized crime. It was eventually revealed that $20,000 in cash was taken from Kelce’s home.
In a memo obtained by The Associated Press, the NFL issued a security alert to teams and the NFL Players Association, warning that professional athletes in different sports have become “increasingly targeted for burglaries by organized and skilled groups.”
Law enforcement officials say the suspects conduct extensive surveillance on their targets’ homes and have even posed as groundskeepers or joggers. Some have even attempted home deliveries.

The memo urged players to take special precautions, including installing home security systems. They were also encouraged not to post live updates of their comings and goings on social media or showcase their expensive items online.

When a Georgia judge convicted Jose Ibarra, Laken Riley’s killer, on 10 counts and sentenced him to life in prison without the possibility of parole, politicians and pundits across the country expressed frustration that he was not sentenced to death.
Over a nearly four-day trial, prosecutor Sheila Ross brought 29 witnesses to the stand to prove that Ibarra brutally attacked and killed Riley, a 22-year-old Augusta University nursing student who was jogging on the University of Georgia campus by bashing her head with large rocks and possibly strangling her.
But Georgia Western Judicial Circuit District Attorney Deborah Gonzalez decided not to pursue the death penalty against Ibarra in May, about three months after Riley’s murder, saying in a May 31 press release that the decision to seek life without the possibility of parole instead of death was “reached after careful deliberation with the senior prosecutor and the support of the victim’s family.”
“Our utmost duty is to ensure that justice is served and that the victim’s family is an integral part of the deliberation process,” Gonzalez said in a statement at the time. “We understand that there will be those outside this office who will disagree with our decision and seek to exploit this case for political gain. However, the integrity of our judicial process and the pursuit of justice must always transcend political considerations.”

Republican Georgia State Rep. Houston Gaines told Fox News Digital that had the death penalty been on the table, Ibarra may have chosen a plea deal instead of life without parole, and a trial exposing the graphic details of Riley’s murder would not have been necessary.

On her first day in office, Gonzalez’s office outlined some of her new initiatives, which included not seeking the death penalty, in a memo her office sent to the Georgia state legislature at the time. Gaines shared parts of the memo on X in February after Riley’s murder, urging the DA to pursue the death penalty.
In that memo, Gonzalez said she would “take into account collateral consequences to undocumented defendants,” or, in other words, the negative impacts of criminal convictions for illegal immigrants.
“District Attorney Gonzalez is wrong for factoring into her decision not to seek the death penalty ‘collateral consequences to undocumented defendants,'” Williams said. “It is outrageous to believe that any DA sworn to uphold the law looking at the facts of this case would take into consideration how undocumented defendants are to be treated in the criminal justice system. A decision to seek the death penalty should be based solely on the individual merits of a case and not whether a person is undocumented.”
Gonazlez, who lost re-election in 2024, decided not to prosecute the Ibarra case and handed it to special prosecutor Ross, who scored a hasty conviction after the nearly four-day trial.
Gonzalez received criticism from Gov. Brian Kemp and other local politicians for her failure to get a single conviction in a jury trial for a criminal case over the course of her term, WSBT-TV first reported in February.

“She made the decision before the case even happened,” Gaines said of Gonzalez’s anti-death penalty stance. “When you come into office and you make blanket policy statements, that’s the issue. … Again, you have individuals who come into our community like Jose Ibarra because … we’re a community that has welcomed individuals who are in this country illegally and who commit serious crimes. And they know that violent criminals are more likely to get off easy in Athens than in other places.”
Gaines also noted that Gonzalez “only has a couple of lawyers left in the office because they’ve had 35 resignations for 17 positions over the last couple of years.”
“They’ve had an over 200% turnover,” the state representative said. “So, she really has no lawyers left in her office, and they weren’t able to handle this case.”
Gonzalez’s office did not respond to a request for comment.

Ibarra illegally crossed into the United States through El Paso, Texas, in September 2022 and was released into the U.S. via parole, ICE and DHS sources previously told Fox News. He briefly lived in New York City, where he was arrested in 2023 for endangering a child. He and his 29-year-old brother, Diego Ibarra, were also previously cited for shoplifting in Athens.

Jose, Diego and their younger brother, Agenis, lived in an apartment building less than a half mile from the on-campus park where Riley was running the morning of Feb. 22. Their apartment complex backed up to a shortcut that leads to running trails along UGA’s campus where Riley was found dead in a wooded area, partially naked and covered in leaves, that afternoon. She died of blunt force trauma and asphyxiation, according to a Georgia Bureau of Investigation medical examiner.
Diego, who worked briefly at a UGA cafeteria before his arrest in February, had ties to a known Venezuelan gang in the U.S., Tren de Aragua, according to federal court documents.
A Texas man was convicted of killing three people, dismembering them and burning their bodies after admitting to investigators that he was called to “commit sacrifices.”
Jason Thornburg was found guilty of capital murder on Wednesday and now, the same Tarrant County jury that convicted him must determine whether he receives a death sentence or if he will spend the rest of his life in prison without the possibility of parole, according to Fox 4.
In September 2021, Thornburg killed three people, dismembered their bodies and stored them under his bed at a motel in Euless, Texas, before lighting the bodies on fire inside a dumpster in Fort Worth.

“I feel like we captured a very accurate representation of how each of the girls feel about getting another sister. At least Ellie, mom and dad are on the same page!” Kylie wrote on Instagram.
It’s not yet known how far along Kylie is or when daughter No. 4 is due.
Jason and Kylie Kelce have been married since April 2018. The two met on a dating app earlier in the decade, and Jason has joked he was “blacked out drunk” on their first date.
Kylie recently ripped her husband for his “dumba–” advice on how to spice it up in the bedroom, where he told men to “wear some really skintight pants” and “grab her right on the a–.”
“If I had to guess based on my husband’s dumb– response to this question,” Kylie said in her own video, “I would say that he’s probably going to experience a spell of his wife saying that she’s not interested.”

Kelce retired earlier this year after spending all 13 seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles.
In his illustrious career, he made seven Pro Bowls and was a six-time first-team All-Pro selection, winning the 2018 Super Bowl and playing in another, which he lost to younger brother Travis.

He played in 193 games in his NFL career, second most in team history. He made 156 consecutive starts, a franchise record. He has since joined ESPN’s “Monday Night Football,” while his podcast with his brother, “New Heights,” continues to grow in popularity.
