Chilly, windy Sunday with more rain ahead next week – Boston News, Weather, Sports

0

The rest of your Saturday night will continue to be cold and windy, and we will continue to see the same pattern throughout Sunday.

Overnight, winds will still gust to 20-25 mph with chilly lows into the mid to upper 30s. Skies will clear as the night goes on.

Tomorrow will be bright, but that’s about the only nice thing about the forecast. Highs will be chilly in the mid to upper 40s.

However, with more whipping winds with gusts over 30-40 mph, the 40s will feel closer to the 30s. Make sure to bundle up if you’ll be out and about!

Monday will be a lot better. Skies will be bright, highs will reach the upper 40s and low 50s, and the wind will finally die down.

Another chance for rain rolls in Tuesday. While brushfires have been a lot better after the recent rain, we still need a lot more to get rid of our drought. Highs will be into the low 50s. It will be a bit breezy again, so I’d have a rain coat on hand rather than an umbrella.

Wednesday will be breezy still and chilly. Highs will reach the upper 40s with partly sunny skies.

We’re watching the potential for rain and snow for Thanksgiving Day into Black Friday.

State trooper relieved of duty amid sexual misconduct allegations – Boston News, Weather, Sports

0

(WHDH) — A Massachusetts state trooper has been relieved of duty amid an investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct, officials said.

Trooper Terence Kent, who graduated from the State Police Academy in August 2017, had been previously suspended in 2023 and forfeited 38 days as the result of an internal affairs investigation regarding abandoning an assigned post.

Kent has been relieved of duty and suspended without pay effective Thursday.

In a statement, state police said, “The Massachusetts State Police does not tolerate any form of sexual misconduct, and we hold our members accountable to the highest professional standards. When these serious allegations came to our attention, the Department immediately relieved the accused trooper of duty, opened an internal affairs investigation, and suspended him without pay following his duty status hearing. We remain fully committed to cooperating with the Lexington Police Department who are conducting an independent investigation with the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office.”

Former Giants star Sterling Shepard reveals details on team’s culture amid fallout from Daniel Jones’ exit

0

Quarterback Daniel Jones’ tumultuous tenure with the New York Giants came to an end this week. The franchise benched the 2019 first round draft pick, before ultimately granting Jones’ request to be released.

The decision to part ways with Jones was described as mutual agreement, with Giants president and co-owner John Mara saying moving on from Jones “would be best for him and for the team.” However, the move by the Giants was met with some criticism.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Sterling Shepherd became the latest former Giants’ player to share his thoughts amid the fallout. Shepherd suggested there was room for improvement as it relates to his former team’s culture.

“When it comes to the culture and everything like that, I’ve gotten a chance to see the way things are done on a different hand, but I think there could be maybe a little bit of work there,” Shepard told the New York Post.

“It’s just different, in so many different ways and so many different levels. When it goes down to the small things, what you can do in the building as a player, the way you’re able to communicate and be hand-in-hand with the coaches, it’s just a lot of different things I kinda picked up on being there for so long. Even down to the training staff or the weight coaches and some of the different stuff that we do here, it’s a difference.”

SAQUON BARKLEY HOPEFUL EX-TEAMMATE DANIEL JONES CAN FIND SUCCESS ELSEWHERE: ‘IT DIDN’T WORK FOR ME OVER THERE’

While Shephard seemed to point out some of the Giants’ deficiencies, he also made it clear that he was attempting to point out the nuances in different NFL team’s operations.

“I’m not saying the way that they do it is bad, because it’s not. It’s just different, and I’ve gotten to see the other side of it,” Shepard added.

Shephard also shared his thoughts about his former coach, Brian Daboll. The receiver expressed his confidence in Daboll being able to “produce wins” as he directed some well wishes toward the Giants head coach.

“I don’t think you go from being the Coach of the Year two years ago to just being a guy that can’t get the job done,” Shepard said. “I don’t believe that. I wish him nothing but the best. I feel like he can be a coach that can produce wins. He’s done it before, and he did it early on, so I don’t think you just go away from that.”

Shephard’s comments concerning the Giants come just days before he makes his return to MetLife Stadium. The Week 12 matchup between the Giants and Buccaneers will mark the first time Shephard takes the field at MetLife in an opposing NFL team’s jersey.

Giants defensive backs coach Jerome Henderson, who has been with the team since 2022, said he expects Shepherd to bring “juice” and “energy” to Sunday’s game in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

“Same thing you saw here — his juice, his energy, his passion to play, his dog mentality,” Henderson said on Friday. “He’s coming at you all day. He’s just one of those grimy players — in a good way — that is just going to fight tooth and nail every play. That’s what you love about Shep.

“Our young guys have got to be ready for this guy to come and fight you every play. This guy will not take a play off. He’s going to be extra motivated because he’s back home for his first time. He’s going to want to come up here and have a good game and be productive. It’s going to be an all-day fight with him.”

Shepard finished his stint with the Giants with more than 4,000 passing yards and 23 receiving touchdowns. Through his first nine games with the Bucs, Shepard has hauled in 16 passes for 166 yards.

The Giants have dropped five straight games entering Sunday’s contest. Meanwhile, the Bucs are on a four-game losing streak.

The UNLV Rebels wanted better conditions for a punt, but then the unthinkable happened.

With just over a minute to go in the second quarter on Friday night against San Jose State, UNLV got into a punt formation from their own 47-yard line, but with rain pouring down, they took a timeout in efforts to get a dry ball for the snap.

There had been an errant snap earlier, so no one can blame the coach.

SJSU safety

A dry ball came onto the field, yet it didn’t stay that way for much longer, considering the rain.

Well, the Rebels got back into the punt formation, and the snap airmailed the punter, with the first bounce around the 25-yard line.

The ball continued to roll toward the end zone and inside the 10-yard line, and after the punter bobbled the ball twice, it eventually rolled past the end zone, resulting in a safety.

“Maybe they should have done the wet ball,” said color commentator Petros Papadakis.

Sure, the ball still managed to get wet, but it’s hard to imagine this one was as soaked as the previous one.

The snap put the Spartans up 16-10, but those actually would be the last points they’d score.

The 24th-ranked Rebels wound up scoring 17 unanswered points to finish the game, earning a 27-16 victory despite the mishap. They improved to 9-2 with the rainy victory.

UNLV began the second half with a field goal and then took the lead with a touchdown toward the end of the third quarter.

Former All-Pro Chad ‘Ochocinco’ Johnson says he used to soak ankles in teammates’ urine to stay healthy

0

Chad “Ochocino” Johnson missed just 10 games in his illustrious 11-year career, and now he’s spilling his secrets.

The six-time Pro Bowl wide receiver revealed on the “7PM in Brooklyn” podcast an odd way of keeping his ankles healthy.

Johnson would soak his ankles in his teammates’ warm urine.

The podcast brought up a video of Johnson discussing the remedy from a podcast in 2016.

“You know what I did for ankle sprains?” the former wide receiver said at the time. “I would collect warm urine from my teammates, heat it up and put my ankle in it for 30 minutes.”

“Yeah, that worked,” he nonchalantly recalled to the podcast this week.

Johnson would soak his ankles for 30 minutes.

“There’s a reason I never been injured — home remedies,” he said, admitting there was no “science” behind it. I’m sitting here living proof.”

Johnson said his grandmother told him about the secret sauce, and, apparently, it was pretty easy to convince his teammates to help.

“It’s a good thing. This is how I was able to collect it all at one time, right? You got team meetings in the morning, right? Everybody. ‘Hey y’all, boy, do me a favor, boy. My ankle kind of f—ed up, I need you to all y’all to drink water at one time. So, when we break meeting, if y’all pee it’s a bucket in the bathroom.’ Boom. Y’all all peeing that bucket for me.”

Florida delivers crushing blow to No. 9 Ole Miss’ College Football Playoff hopes with upset win

0

The Florida Gators delivered a crushing blow to No. 9-ranked Ole Miss’ hopes of making the College Football Playoff, beating the Rebels 24-17 Saturday.

The Rebels had a chance to tie the game late, but quarterback Jaxson Dart threw two interceptions in the final two minutes.

On the first interception, Dart took a shot to the end zone into triple coverage, getting picked off by Bryce Thornton with just under two minutes left.

The Rebels’ defense forced a three-and-out following the interception while using all their timeouts, giving Dart and the Rebels another chance to tie the game with just over a minute left.

However, Dart did not take advantage. With just under 30 seconds left, Dart overthrew his wide receiver, and Thornton, once again, was in position to intercept the pass and end the game.

Saturday’s loss marked the first time Dart has thrown multiple interceptions in a game in two seasons.

Florida quarterback DJ Lagway opened the scoring in the first quarter by connecting with Elijhah Badger on an 8-yard touchdown.

Dart responded by connecting with star wide receiver Tre Harris on a deep shot, tying the score at seven after the 43-yard touchdown.

The Rebels quarterback stayed hot, hitting wide receiver Cayden Lee for a 22-yard touchdown to give Ole Miss a 14-7 lead in the second quarter.

It was the Gators’ turn to respond. Lagway hit running back Jadan Baugh on a screen pass, and Baugh did the rest, scampering in for a 25-yard touchdown to tie the game 14-14.

After trading field goals in the third quarter to make it 17-17, the Gators’ offense went to work.

Running back Montrell Johnson Jr. punched in a touchdown from nine yards out to put the Gators on top 24-17, where the score held.

Johnson Jr. ran for 107 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries, while Lagway threw for 180 yards with two touchdowns and an interception in the win.

Dart threw for 323 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions while rushing for 71 yards in the loss. Lee ended the day with six catches for 94 yards and a touchdown.

It was the Gators’ second straight game beating a ranked opponent while being unranked, something they hadn’t done since 2003.

The win for the Gators makes them bowl eligible as they improved to 6-5 with the win. The Gators will look to keep it rolling when they take on the rival Florida State Seminoles next Saturday.

The loss drops the Rebels to 8-3 and likely takes them out of College Football Playoff contention. The Rebels will look to bounce back when they take on Mississippi State next Saturday.

Women’s Golf star Charley Hull fawns over ‘brilliant, legend’ Trump after doing his dance at tournament

0

Not even pro women’s golf tournaments are safe from the Trump dance.

Amid a phenomenon of American athletes using the dance to celebrate big moments during games since Trump’s election win, English women’s golf star Charley Hull brought the moves to The Annika, a premier event in the sport, this past week.

On Thursday, Hull addressed the dance and her feelings about the president-elect, calling him “brilliant” and a “legend.”

“I love Trump. I think he’s brilliant,” Hull said at the CME Group Tour Championship at Tiburon. “I like how he just says things, he doesn’t care what people think, and he’s straight to the point.”

CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM

Hull went so far as to say that she would prefer it if Trump led her home country, the United Kingdom, instead of its current Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

“I wish he was head of the U.K.,” she added. “I just like him as a person. He’s a little better than our Prime Minister.”

Starmer assumed office this past July after the country’s Labour Party won the majority in parliament. The Labour Party’s victory ended 14 years of the Conservative Party’s governance and was won with the smallest share of the electoral vote of any majority government since record-keeping of the popular vote began in 1830.

TRUMP SUPPORT DOMINATES WEEKEND IN SPORTS AS ATHLETES PERFORM PRESIDENT-ELECT’S DANCE MOVES

Starmer’s term has already featured an early corruption scandal. He faced controversy in September after reports that he had failed to declare a gift of several thousand pounds worth of clothes to his wife by Labour Party donor Waheed Alli, Baron Alli.

Thus, Trump has earned Hull’s affection and respect over the current leader of her own country.

Hull previously expressed interest in the Women’s Open Championship returning to Trump Turnberry in Scotland in the future.

“I thought it was a great golf course, great fun,” she said while preparing for the Scottish Open, via The Telegraph. “I love being out there, and the views are brilliant.

“Like honestly, it’s one of the best golf courses in the world. It would be a shame to not be on there.”

Other pro golfers have voiced support for Trump, including Bryson Dechambeau and Dustin Johnson, who was at the president’s election victory party and played a round with him on his course in Florida.

The Trump dance as a means of celebration has been a particularly controversial talking point in the NFL in recent weeks. San Francisco 49ers linebacker Nick Bosa, Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers, Tennessee Titans wide receivers Calvin Ridley and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine and Detroit Lions defensive end Za’Darius Smith and linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez have all been seen doing the dance in games since Trump’s victory.

At UFC 309, Trump was seated cageside as Jon Jones and Bo Nickal both showed support for him. Jones did the dance move after he knocked out Stipe Miocic. He handed the heavyweight belt to Trump afterward. Nickal talked with Trump about golfing after his victory.

Ohio State ends Indiana’s undefeated campaign convincingly, putting damper on Hoosiers’ playoff hopes

0

It’s been a fun ride for the fifth-ranked Indiana Hoosiers, but their first test with the big boys this year may just be their last.

Indiana traveled Saturday to Columbus to take on No. 2 Ohio State, and the Buckeyes walloped them, 38-15.

The Hoosiers got on the board first, immediately after forcing a three-and-out to start the game. On Ohio State’s next possession, the Buckeyes had a 15-play drive that ended in a turnover on downs, giving all the momentum to Indiana, which had something to prove.

But they could not take advantage. They punted, then allowed a touchdown. Both teams then exchanged turnovers. After a snap went through the Indiana punter’s hands, the Buckeyes needed just three plays and seven yards to take a 14-7 lead into the locker room.

The Hoosiers went three-and-out to open the third quarter, but their punt was taken to the house by Caleb Downs, giving OSU a 21-7 lead. Indiana again went three-and-out, and the Buckeyes responded with another trip to the end zone. The Buckeyes then kicked a field goal in the fourth quarter to make it a four-possession game as the Hoosier offense continued to sputter.

After its touchdown, Indiana failed to score on its next eight drives, finding the end zone again in garbage time. Kurtis Rourke was just 8-for-18 passing for 68 yards, while Ty Son Lawton and Justice Ellison combined to rush for 141 yards on 32 carries. Lawton scored both Hoosiers touchdowns.

FOX NEWS DIGITAL SPORTS’ COLLEGE FOOTBALL WINNERS AND LOSERS: WEEK 12

Will Howard completed all but four of his 26 passes, airing it out for 201 yards and two scores. Emeka Egbuka, who caught seven passes for 80 yards, scored one of those TDs.

The Hoosiers won their first 10 games, but now all signs point to needing an at-large bid to make the College Football Playoff. A blowout loss to one of the best teams in the country will not help their cause, and they finish their season against Purdue next week.

Moments after their loss, No. 9 Ole Miss was upset by Florida, so maybe Indiana can stay alive due to the Rebels’ loss.

The Buckeyes are now 10-1, with their lone loss coming to No. 1 Oregon Oct. 12 by a score of 32-31. They should snap their three-game losing streak against Michigan next week, with the defending champs, 5-5 this season, visiting the Horsehoe.

Montreal demonstrators clash with police, set off smoke bombs in destructive protest

0

Video of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau dancing at a Taylor Swift concert amid a destructive protest in Montreal drew outrage over the weekend.

Trudeau, who represents a district in Montreal, had attended the Taylor Swift concert in Toronto on Friday night. A viral video posted on X shows the Canadian politician dancing and singing along to the song “You Don’t Own Me” before Swift took the stage.

Toronto is roughly 280 miles west of the Canadian capital of Ottowa and 330 miles west of the Montreal district that Trudeau represents.

During the same night, anti-NATO demonstrators set off smoke bombs and marched through the streets of Montreal with Palestinian flags. According to the Montreal Gazette, the rioters set cars on fire and clashed with police.

Protesters also threw small explosive devices and metal items at officers. At one point, the group burned an effigy of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The image of Trudeau dancing amid protests in his hometown sparked outrage online. Some social media users even compared Trudeau to Nero, the infamous Roman emperor known for “fiddling while Rome burned.”

Don Stewart, a Member of Parliament (MP) representing part of Toronto, called out the prime minister in a post on X.
