Russia is recruiting hundreds of Yemeni men to fight in its war in Ukraine by luring them to Russia under false pretenses in coordination with the Houthi terrorist network, a report by the Financial Times found.

The Yemeni recruits who were transferred to Russia under a “shadowy trafficking operation” were originally told they would receive high-paying jobs and Russian citizenship.

However, after arriving with the help of a Houthi-linked company, many have apparently been coerced into the Russian military, forced to sign fighting contracts at gunpoint and sent to the front lines in Ukraine.

RUSSIA IS SUPPLYING HOUTHIS WITH SATELLITE DATA TO ATTACK SHIPS IN THE RED SEA: REPORT

Fox News Digital could not immediately reach the U.S. State Department or the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense for comment on Russia’s increasing use of foreign fighters to aid its war machine in Ukraine.

It is unclear if any of the Yemeni men are Houthi terrorists or how many have been sent to fight in Ukraine, though the Financial Times report on Sunday suggested that recruitment is believed to have begun in July. At least 200 Yemeni men were reportedly a part of just one group forcibly conscripted into the Russian military in September – most of whom had little training before they were then sent to Ukraine to fight.

A video posted by the London-based news outlet depicted at least five Yemeni men, four in the video along with the cameraman, explaining their dire situation and noting that one of their fellow conscripts attempted to commit suicide but was taken to a hospital before being reinstated into service one day later.

“We are now under bombardment,” said the man holding the camera, who expressed their exhaustion and showed a group of men holed up in a Ukrainian forest. “Mines, drones, digging bunkers, we are carrying lumber.”

U.S. diplomats told the news outlet that the scheme coordinated between the Houthis and Russia shows how far Moscow is willing to go to beef up its forces amid the high casualty rates.

Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense on Monday assessed that Russia has seen more than 730,000 casualties in the nearly three-year-long war, though U.S. assessments in early October suggested this number was closer to 600,000, which includes some 115,000 deaths and roughly 500,000 wounded.

UKRAINE TO ANALYZE FRAGMENTS OF MISSILE FIRED BY RUSSIA CAPABLE OF CARRYING NUCLEAR WARHEADS

Though the report by the Financial Times suggests there could be hundreds, if not more, Yemeni men forced to fight in Ukraine, they are not the only foreign fighters being pulled into Russia’s war machine.

North Korea has sent some 12,000 troops to aid Russia, and reports earlier this year suggested that men from India and Nepal had been lured into fighting for Moscow under false pretenses, again having been promised lucrative jobs before being shipped off to the war in Ukraine.

It is unclear how many Indian men have been conscripted into Russia’s military, though a report by Time in August said that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi apparently raised the subject with Russian President Vladimir Putin during a July visit to Moscow. Modi was allegedly assured Russia would do what it could to return all Indian mercenaries, though the status of that agreement remains unclear.

CNN similarly reported earlier this year that some 15,000 men from Nepal had also been recruited to fight for Russia – depicting a trend that shows Russia has been targeting impoverished nations to falsely lure fighters into its ranks.

Russia has been bolstering its ties with Iran, and in extension, Iran’s proxy forces like the Houthis, since Putin launched his “special military operation” in Ukraine in 2022.

It is unclear what, if anything, Russia has promised the Houthi’s in exchange for their help in Moscow’s latest conscription scheme, and security officials have yet to confirm any arms sales from Russia to the terrorist network.

Russia is known, however, to have aided the group by providing targeting data, which the group uses in its attacks against Western ships in the Red Sea.

The Houthis have also sent at least two delegations to Russia this year to meet with senior Kremlin officials.

Former Jets GM Joe Douglas felt ‘relief’ after firing: report

0

The New York Jets’ shake-ups went from the sidelines to the front office this season with former general manager Joe Douglas being among the casualties of an unexpected season.

The Jets fired Douglas following the team’s Week 11 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. It was the second dismissal of the season following the firing of head coach Robert Saleh. Apparently, Douglas took the news in stride.

An NFL executive close to the former Jets GM told The Athletic that Douglas felt some “relief” from team owner Woody Johnson’s decision. The executive told the outlet Douglas went fishing down the Jersey Shore to recalibrate and refresh following a string of tough seasons.

“It’s the happiest he’s sounded in a long time,” the executive said.

Douglas came into the Jets’ organization prior to the start of the 2019 season. New York was coming off of a 4-12 season with Todd Bowles as the head coach and was still in the midst of a playoff drought.

The first season was interesting. Adam Gase was hired to be the head coach as Sam Darnold started his season under center. The Jets started that year 0-4 but salvaged a 7-9 season. Still, the team missed the playoffs.

It was turbulent from there. New York went from Darnold to Zach Wilson to Aaron Rodgers as starting quarterbacks. Gase had two seasons in New York before Robert Saleh replaced him.

New York didn’t make the playoffs in any of the seasons with Douglas as the GM. The Jets haven’t made the playoffs since 2010, making it to their second consecutive AFC Championship Game at that time.

NBA legend chides Lakers for how they’ve handled Bronny James: ‘It’s a bad look’

0

Bronny James’ entrance into the NBA came with much fanfare as he and his legendary father, LeBron James, teamed up for two games with the Los Angeles Lakers.

The young Lakers rookie was sent to the G League to play for the South Bay Lakers in hopes of developing his skills to become a better NBA player. However, he has not stayed in the G League and has made a few sporadic appearances with the team when they are at home.

Basketball Hall of Famer Charles Barkley criticized the Lakers for the “awful” handling of James so far.

“And also, this thing where he’s only gonna play homes games,” he said on “The Bettor Angle.” “It’s stupid, it’s not fair to him. It’s not fair to the team. Can you imagine the coach of that team? You come off a road trip and you have a player you haven’t seen in a week or two. And then you probably feel like you gotta play him

“I don’t think they are doing Bronny any favors. They have just handled this thing very bad. It’s a bad look for the Lakers. I really like everything LeBron has done. But it’s a bad look for him [too], in my opinion.”

PETA blasts visceral bird cries outside White House to protest turkey pardon

0

An animal rights group will bombard the streets of D.C. with visceral cries of distressed turkeys and subliminal messages urging people to go vegan as the White House participates in its annual Thanksgiving turkey pardon tradition on Monday.

The distressing animal cries and subliminal messaging are part of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals’ (PETA) “Hell on Wheels” turkey tuck, which has been traveling to 30 different states across the country since as early as October, stopping at grocery stores, busy downtown areas and eventually the presidential turkey pardon. The truck, which is intended to look like a realistic turkey transport truck covered with images of birds crammed into crates, was posted outside the Willard Hotel on Sunday evening where the birds were housed ahead of the ceremony. On Monday, the truck set up shop outside the White House.

THIS THANKSGIVING, NEARLY 35% OF AMERICANS SURVEYED ARE TURNED OFF BY TURKEY

“It’s a life-sized Turkey transportation truck, and it’s covered with images of real sickly turkeys. And if people listen very closely, they will hear a subliminal message to go vegan every 10 seconds. And that’s because we want people to listen closely and watch closely, because every turkey is an individual,” Amanda Brody, assistant manager in PETA’s international grassroots campaigns department, told Fox News Digital.

“No one needs to eat meat, dairy or eggs to be healthy, and everyone can help stop this needless suffering by simply going vegan today or enjoying a vegan roast at their Thanksgiving dinner this Thursday.”

DR. SIEGEL’S FOOD SAFETY TIPS FOR THANKSGIVING DINNER

Earlier this month, PETA President Ingrid Newkirk sent a letter to President Joe Biden urging the “lame duck president” to cancel what she described as the “wretched” turkey pardon tradition. Newkirk argued the tradition is “a humiliating meat-industry stunt that uses the White House as its public relations backdrop.”

“Turkeys are devoted parents who purr to their chicks, and whose skin changes color to express their emotions, yet in the meat industry, they’re treated as unfeeling objects, crammed into filthy sheds, and slaughtered, often while they’re still conscious,” PETA President Ingrid Newkirk said Monday. “PETA’s ‘Hell on Wheels’ truck is sending a strong signal that it’s beneath the Oval Office to shill for the meat industry and appealing to the public to please give birds a break by choosing vegan this Thanksgiving and beyond.”

The history of the presidential turkey pardon is a little murky, with some believing it first began when President Abraham Lincoln granted “clemency” to a turkey in 1863. Others have suggested the tradition began much later with President Harry S. Truman. Meanwhile, according to NPR, the turkey pardoning tradition was formalized in 1989 by then-Vice President George H. W. Bush.

Defensive back Josh Moten was identified as the player who was in the incident with the ball boy after the game. The ball boy appeared to try to knock a football out of Moten’s hands while the player was running off of the field.

The ball boy was then seen getting into a shoving contest with another Marshall player.

Moten issued an apology after the game.

Moten had five total tackles in the game and intercepted a pass from Old Dominion quarterback Colton Joseph in the first quarter. It was the fourth interception for Moten this season.

The junior defensive back transferred to Marshall in 2023 following a short stint with Texas A&M.

NYC Democrat demands firings after slashing spree kills 3 in Manhattan

0

U.S. Rep. Ritchie Torres, a Democrat from the Bronx, blasted New York leaders over the weekend for failed criminal justice reforms that enabled “a homicidal rampage” in broad daylight last week, resulting in the murders of three innocent people at the hands of a violent, mentally ill man released from custody early.

“The bureaucrat in DOC [Department of Correction] who authorized the early release of Ramon should be fired,” Torres wrote in a fiery letter to Gov. Kathy Hochul and New York Mayor Eric Adams, both Democrats. “Those who cannot be entrusted with public safety should no longer be employed by the people of New York.”

He added that “layers upon layers of government failure” enabled Ramon Rivera, an eight-time criminal whose most recent stint behind bars involved a transfer to the psych ward at Bellevue Hospital, where he attacked a correction officer.

MAYOR SLAMS HIS OWN PARTY AFTER DEADLY HOURS-LONG STABBING SPREE

Police last week arrested the 51-year-old homeless man for allegedly fatally knifing three people in separate Manhattan stabbings on Nov. 18.

We live in a city and state where the only people who seem to suffer consequences are the victims of crime and their loved ones. Enough is enough.

— Rep. Ritchie Torres, D-N.Y.

Torres blasted the city’s DOC as “the worst offender” in Rivera’s case after it released him from custody four months early for “good behavior” despite the Bellevue assault, which he wasn’t even punished for, according to Torres.

Read the letter:

“These tragedies are preventable but neither the city nor the state seem to possess the political will to prevent them, despite having the tools to do so,” Torres wrote. “The state refuses to grant the mayor the legal authority he needs to prevent dangerous people from roaming the streets. The city refuses to hold DOC accountable for the early release of a demonstrably dangerous criminal who went on a stabbing spree. The end result is incompetence that is not only destructive but deadly for New Yorkers.”

A close-up of Kathy Hochul speaking at a podium

Adams also placed some of the blame for the stabbing spree on Hochul, calling on Albany to give city police greater power “to institutionalize people” during a news briefing last week.

Homelessness, mental illness and violent recidivism each continue to plague New York City.

Two tourists were stabbed last week in random attacks, one a 55-year-old from Denmark who was knifed on the Upper West Side, the other a 42-year-old Italian slashed on the hand. Police arrested a 25-year-old Manhattan man for the first attack after his mother turned him in, and they were looking for a woman in connection with the second, according to FOX 5 New York.

SUSPECT IN CUSTODY AFTER ‘UNPROVOKED’ NEW YORK CITY STABBING SPREE LEAVES 3 PEOPLE DEAD: POLICE

The stabbings come as Daniel Penny, a 26-year-old Marine veteran studying architecture in the city, is on trial for the chokehold death of another homeless man, Jordan Neely, who died after Penny grabbed him during an outburst of shouted death threats on a subway car.

The defense rested its case Friday by revealing Neely had an open warrant out for his arrest the day he died.

Torres has a history of moderate stances and opposes the left wing of his party for its support of pro-Hamas protesters, soft-on-crime policies and other “ivory-towered nonsense” that he argued cost Democrats on Election Day.

He blasted Hochul last week as “the new Joe Biden” and urged her to get out of the way if Democrats want to maintain their grip on power in the Empire State.

“She may be in denial about the depth of her vulnerabilities as a Democratic nominee,” he wrote on X. “A Democratic incumbent who is less popular in New York than Donald Trump is in grave danger of losing to a Republican in 2026.”

Earth bids farewell to ‘mini moon’ asteroid set for return visit in 2055

0

  • Planet Earth is bidding farewell to a “mini moon,” a harmless asteroid named 2024 PT5, which has been trailing Earth for two months and will leave on Monday, drawn away by the sun’s stronger gravitational pull.
  • First spotted in August, the asteroid began its brief gravitational interaction with Earth in late September.
  • After its departure, the asteroid is not expected to return near Earth until 2055.

Planet Earth is parting company with an asteroid that’s been tagging along as a “mini moon” for the past two months.

The harmless space rock will peel away on Monday, overcome by the stronger tug of the sun’s gravity. But it will zip closer for a quick visit in January.

NASA will use a radar antenna to observe the 33-foot asteroid then. That should deepen scientists’ understanding of the object known as 2024 PT5, quite possibly a boulder that was blasted off the moon by an impacting, crater-forming asteroid.

SCIENTISTS DISCOVER MASSIVE CAVE ON MOON THAT COULD BE USED TO SHELTER ASTRONAUTS

While not technically a moon — NASA stresses it was never captured by Earth’s gravity and fully in orbit — it’s “an interesting object” worthy of study.

The astrophysicist brothers who identified the asteroid’s “mini moon behavior,” Raul and Carlos de la Fuente Marcos of Complutense University of Madrid, have collaborated with telescopes in the Canary Islands for hundreds of observations so far.

Currently more than 2 million miles away, the object is too small and faint to see without a powerful telescope. It will pass as close as 1.1 million miles of Earth in January, maintaining a safe distance before it zooms farther into the solar system while orbiting the sun, not to return until 2055. That’s almost five times farther than the moon.

First spotted in August, the asteroid began its semi jog around Earth in late September, after coming under the grips of Earth’s gravity and following a horseshoe-shaped path.

By the time it returns next year, it will be moving too fast — more than double its speed from September — to hang around, said Raul de la Fuente Marcos.

moon

NASA will track the asteroid for more than a week in January using the Goldstone solar system radar antenna in California’s Mojave Desert, part of the Deep Space Network.

Current data suggest that during its 2055 visit, the sun-circling asteroid will once again make a temporary and partial lap around Earth.
