In honor of Hijrah 1444AH, the new Islamic year, the Osun government has proclaimed Friday, July 29 a work-free day.

This was stated in a press release by Mr. Olalekan Badmus, the Supervising Commissioner for the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Commissioner for Special Duties.

The declaration asked all state residents, including Muslims, to use the holiday to pray for the country’s continuous peace and advancement.

It also urged all Muslims in the state to practice spiritual soul-searching in addition to celebrating Hijrah.

It exhorted people to act in accordance with the spirit of the celebration, which was typified by the virtues of the holy prophet of Allah, Muhammad, while he was on earth.

The statement also urged the state’s whole populace to continue to support and cooperate with the government led by Governor Adegboyega Oyetola.
