Crime Stoppers of Greater Atlanta has announced an increase in the reward to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the suspect responsible for a violent stabbing during an attempted robbery at the United Community Bank on Caroline Street in the Edgewood Retail District.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, Nov. 20, at approximately 12:37 p.m. Atlanta Police responded to reports of a robbery and stabbing at the bank. Authorities revealed that an unidentified male suspect entered the bank, went behind the employee counter, and demanded money. When informed that no money was available, the suspect stabbed an employee in the stomach before fleeing the scene.
The injured employee was transported to a local hospital and is recovering, according to police.
United Community Bank released this statement on the incident: “This act of violence is deeply appalling. We are enormously grateful to law enforcement and will continue to support their efforts, so this individual is arrested and prosecuted to the full extent of the law.”
Investigators continue to search for the suspect and are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
