Realtor Jimmy Chang was killed after an alleged underage drunk driver ran a red light on Buford Highway in Chamblee on Dec. 15.
With a 10-year career in real estate, Chang was an active member of Lambda Chi Epsilon when he attended the University of Georgia.
He served as the president of the Asian Real Estate Association of America (AREAA), a nonprofit that aims to bridge cultural gaps in real estate and create opportunities for underserved communities. Chang served as an advocate for Asian heritage and culture.
He also graduated in 2023 from ARA’s Emerging Leaders Program, and served on the Emerging Leaders Advisory Council.
The Atlanta Realtors Association issued a statement about Chang.
“We are devastated over the news that fellow member, Jimmy Chang, died from a car accident over the weekend … He will be sorely missed, and our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this difficult time,” the statement said.
In an online video tribute, his colleague Whitney Mills called Chang “a pillar in the Atlanta real estate community.”
“The most significant mark he left was on his friends, family, and loved ones with his warm smile and spirit,” Mills said.
Kuang Chang has started a fundraiser to cover the costs of her brother’s funeral and memorial service. Nearly $36,000 has been raised.
