The Brookhaven Police Department will treat underserved youth to a Christmas shopping spree at Target on North Druid Hills Road during its 10th annual Shop with a Badge event on Saturday, Dec. 14.
Shop with a Badge is BPD’s flagship program, initiated in 2014. In a partnership with Target, Brookhaven police organize the annual event where each child is paired with an officer to go shopping.
Prior to the event, each child submits a list of gift ideas: Something that the child needs; something that the child wants; and something that they can share with their family.
The 2019 Shop with a Badge event still stands out. That was the year that officers participated from the Dekalb Sheriff’s Office, Sandy Springs Police Department, Georgia State Patrol, and John’s Creek Police Department, as well as ChatComm dispatchers and a federal agent.
The event is paid for by funds raised at the department’s annual Hot Pursuit Glow Run 5k. Shop with a Badge is still collecting donations and seeking volunteers for the event. Sign up here.
